certificates are in circulation in Clearfield
county and other places, which have been
raised from $10 to $ 50. The modus oper

cubs were the size of small kittens. The
old bear showed light. The hunter shot her
aeeo, put tae cubs in bis pockets, went
home, took a sled out and brought in thj
200 pound old bear.
Varl Sburz fell iu New York City on the
paveiueut on Saturday and broke a leg.
General Ben Butler fell in the same city,
on tbe same day and severely injured a
shoulder.
Charleston was disturbed' by a slight
earthquake shock on Saturday.

The Bloomfield Advocste ot the 23rd of
February says ; Last Thursday noon after
Mr. J. W. Ferrell had sold bis beer and
was about takicg him away, the brute
which was very large and had not been
out ol the stable for nearly 6 months, be
came very cross. He ran at Mr. Ferrell
and gored him in the leg above the knee
and knocked htm down. Mr. Ferrell was
in thb act ot getting up when he made a
second attack and bit him on the side
breaking several riba and otherwise injur
ing l.iin. The enraged animal toased bun
in the air. Just at that time his son ran up
and caught tbe brute by the ring iu his
cose with one band and dragged bis fa
ther away from him with the other, so that
be conid gel away The bull was led to a
tree where he was securely fastened by
means of a log chain. With the assistance
ol bis wife and son Mr. Ferrell managed to
eet to the house. Dr. S. K. Ickes was
summoned, who rendered tbeneceasary aid.
The injured man has suflered terribly, but
we hope be will soon recover. The drover,
who had purchased the annual and witness
ed the accident, refused to take the brute,
and upon demanding his m0ney it was returned.
