(girçrftf anît Corart. The B ible of R obert B urns.— T he distiogaisbed honor, say» the Macon Journal, is reserved to the Grand Lodge of Georgia of having in its possession the ancient Bible used by Büros in his Lodge, and wbieh can be seen at every meeting of Macon Lodge, Constaûtine Chap ter, or tbe Grand Lodge. Tt bears tbe evidence of its antiquity in its printing, quaint illustrations and bind iug in boards of tbe "beechen tree." Its history is traced to its present "deposit in our archives" in the foll ow '&? extract from the proceedings of ttH3 Grand Lodge of 1860 : Brother D. G. Candler presented a Bible in German Text, from Colonel Henry P. Thomas an elderly Scbtch lady wberstates that it was h*rgrand father's f«roily Bible; that be was a member of Dumfriesshire Lodge, in Scotland, and the Bible now presented was used in tbat Lodge when Robert Burns presided over it. It is now presented to be deposited in tbe Li brary of the Grand Lodge, and' the following memorandum to be<pri$ted and permanently affixed to the same : "This book was presented to the Grand Lodge of the 8tate of Georgia on the 1st day of November, 1800, by Brother D. G. Candler, in the name of Col. Henry P. Thomas, of Gwynnett country. It was obtained by Col. Thomas from a Scotch lady, ninety years of ago, wbo states that it was her grandfather's family Bible. Her grandfather was a native of Ger many, who intermarried with a Scotch htdy and settled in Dumfriesshire, and was a member of tbe Masonio Lodge at that place when the poet Burns pieRided over the Dutnfrieséhire Lodge, and family tradition says that it was at that time used in tbat Lodge. It has been preserved since that time with great care, on account of the reminiscences that clufeter around it, and has been surrendered up with the expressed understanding that it be by Brother Chandler deliv ered up to "M. W. G. M. Rockwell, and deposited in the Grand Lodge of Georgia, to be preserved." >9* A good joke is told, in legis lative circles, at the expense of the member of the House from Coshoc ton, who was chairman of tbe joint committee to examine Longview and other lunatic asylums. Among the inmates of Longview was one -who labored under the hallucination that lie was not only owner of the estab lishment but of the surrounding coun try. Talking to Mr. Thornhill and bragging about bis possessions, :the member from Coshocton pretended a wish to purchase. This the lunatic declined. "But," says Mr. Thorn hill, "can't you sell me a small 1di m ; I wish to live here, and you surely will not miss it out of your laige pos sessions ?" "That's true," said the lunatic ; "I have got enough, but I wont sell, for 1 don't want any more d—d fools to settle here ' , — Colum hus ( Ohio) Correspondence. QP A moustache spoon is said to be one of the latest Yankee inden tions, the object being to provide a spoon by means of which sottp, medi cine, etc., may be carried to the mouth without liability of being spilled or of soiling the moustache. Tbe invention constats in a movable cover so combined with the bowl of the spoon that it may cover the greater portion. It also consists in the combination of a lever and a spring with the spoon and the cover, so that the latter may be readily closed or opened.
