ACADEMIY OF TIHE SACRED
HEART.
In our last issne1 we published a list of
the pupils attending this popu'ar institu
tion, who were recipients of ribbons aiind
honors, as is customary, at the end of each
session, anld we take ccasion to call the at
tention of parents and guairdians to the fact
that an education is necessary for their
their children and those under their
charge.
The situation of this Tnstuittion is
healthy and delightful. Ilaced on a beau.
tiful eminence, conunannn ing a view of
the country for miles around, and where
the pure andl refreshing breeze of the
Pine Woods is continually wafting its
delicious influence. The grounds belonging
to the Academy are spacious and affords
facility for exercise. This is indispensa
ble to the health of the pupil. The Build
ings are large, commodions, well ven
tilatedl andl cleanly; no pains being spared
in making the scholar comfortable and
happy. In sickness, th pupils eare affec
tionately and assiduously cared for, and
receive that attention that they would
receive at home, and every means conclu
sire to their health applied with a tender
care.
The Academy of the Sacred Reart is
under the control of an accomplished aIndy
Superior, one of high literary attain
ments, and a strict, but impartial disci
plinarian. The ablest assistants are se
lected with care and are found perform
ing their duty with an aim to the pro
feseion of the pupils nder their instruc
tion. This institution is second to none,
in this, or other states, though, here, they
labor under many inconveniences that
those of the large cities can command, yet
by careful management. substitutes are
readily applied at that place, this academy
is on an equal footing with the best in
he country.
The existence of the Academny of the Sa
ered Heart is also indeepensable to the
prosperity of our town. Such an Institn
tion, as it iasconducted, should make us
feel proud of the honor bestowed on
Natehitoches for selecting the location at
this point.
No town, city or village can be prosper
oun without Institntions of learning, with
in their midst, and we specially recom
mend to all parents to send their children
here. They will receive a thorough edu
cation in the languages, and that care
and attention that makes the accomplish
ed lady and scholar.
The best inheritance you can give your
children is a thorough education, and in
bestowing this important boon, care must
be taken in selecting an Academy that
will do yourself and those you send for in
structioa,justice. It is absolutely your
duty to sustain the academies that take
the.intereet of the pupil at heart and such
teachers and preceptors that will take a
pleasure and pride in sending your child
homes to you, clothed with honor and dis
tinction. An institution of this kind can
be found here in our very midst, and one
that has no equal. Here, the motherly
care of the sisters is never wanting, and
their watchful and experience eye are e-v.
.r ready to detect and correct their cr
ring and teach them the path of righteous
nees.
Persons of all religious denominations can
attend this academy, there being no de.
stinction made by the Lady Superior or her
yaeistants. An impartial course is adopt.
ed, making no preferences in sickness or
instruction. No pupil is restrained in her
relgiona belief-no persuasion or force is
applied to change the belief of any of the
scholars, but those that attend are requir
ed to conform with the rules of the Acad
easy, which do not in the least interfere
with their religious scruplces.
The scholastic Session begins on the 1st
of October and ends on the 15th of An
guat. Pupile will be admitted at any
time during the session and charged only
fru date of entrance. We call upon the
citiaens of Natchitoches, and in fact North
Lr.edslana to patronize this Institution
'4blBe'ha. tlvagy been conducted in a
