Mr. and Mrs. Benton Wagner enter tained as their guests, Sunday, Mrs. Harriet Keiss, Miss Julia Keiss, of Cambridge City, Misa Grace Keiss, of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Louise Thurston, of St. Paul, Minnesota, George Keiss, of New York. Paul Werking is about the same. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Omelia have returned from a short wedding trip and will be at home to their friends at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Phoebe Tillson. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lantz and family of Indianapolis, spent a few days with his father, Mr. John Lantz and aunt Amanda. Mr. and Mrs. Prifogle, of Campbells town, Ohio; Mrs. Josie Tice and son, Mrs. Brown and daughter Cletic, and Mrs. Chas. Mrs. Andrew Dunbar returned the last of the week from a visit with her niece, Miss Ruth'Baldwin at Muncie. Mr. P. L. Rau is visiting his family at the home of her parents, Mr. T. B. Jones and family. Several from here attended the Ell wood and Ellsbury reunion at Glen Miller, Sunday. Mr. William, Omelias entertained with a family dinner Sunday in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Omelias, who were recently married. Miss Daisy Leavell entertained Sun day Miss Edith Woolard, Miss Jose phine Ulrich, Miss Blanche Coffman and Mrs. Everett Roof. Near seventy-five rooters accompan ied the L. I. C. Co. team to Cambridge City Sunday afternoon, where they won a game from the Greys by a score of 6 to 5. A daughter was recently born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ault at Chicago, but later died, and the body was brought to Winchester by Mr. Ault for burial. Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Fox are at Mar tinsville for a week's recreation. A little son of Mrs. Alice Hussong of Marion, who is visiting her mother, Mrs. Emma Foyst, is seriously ill with typhoid fever. Mr. and Mrs. Ansil Pierce and baby were guests over Sunday of Mrs. Sallie Pierce. Mrs. Dave Harter and son of Cam bridge City are visiting with Miss Katherine Gohring. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith entertain ed Mr. and Mrs. Jyle Jones and child ren Sunday. Mr. Henry Teetor probably escaped death or serious injuries Monday, by jumping from his automobile when it skidded, west of New Castle, and turning around fell into a ditch up side down. Mr. Teetor was alone. ECONOMY, IND. ECONOMY, Ind., Aug. 20. Mr. and Mrs. George Willard of Weston Salem, N. G., were the week-end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stewart. Mr. Willard said the land has been so im proved that it Is valued at $30 to $100 per acre. Mrs. Aletha Greggs and daughter, Nettie Beck, of Bridgeport, 111., were visitors at the Edwards' home over. Sunday. John Dean, Mr. and Mrs. -Wyate Dean and children, of New Madison, Ohio, were here the latter part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Clark and children, visited Aseneth and Mary Clark of Winchester Sunday. John Brooks of Greensfork, was here Sunday. Blanche and Harold Fennimore, who visited Mr. and Mrs. Hurlle Lantze of Hagerstown the past several days, ar rived home Sunday. Rufus Williams and Oliver Hiatt at tended Friends' monthly meeting at Western River Saturday. Billy Rash and Frank Ricketts of Indianapolis, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Franklin. Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Jones and Ellsworth Conley of Richmond, were guests of the Northcott's Sunday." Mr. and Mrs. Glen Batchelor were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Burnie Swain the past few days. Saturday between nine and ten o'clock the large barn of Albert Pax ton burned with its contents, which consisted of harness, buggy, wagon, farming tools, hay and oats. Loss $2,000, with but $400 insurance. It is believed it was purposely set on fire by some one who had spite at Mr. Paxton. The Misses ITla and Ada Mundell of Indianapolis, were Saturday night guests of the Hiatts. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pierce spent Sunday with New Castle relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cain and child ren, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cain and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cain and children, were at Winchester Sunday. Jesse B. Stanley attended the Butler reunion at Decatur Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Job Swain entertained at dinner Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Lind sey Canaday, Mrs. Martha Good, Mrs. Lucinda Marshall, Mr. and Mrs. Will Conarroe, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Swain and daughter. Lucile, and Earl Swain of Greensfork. Fried chicken, sweet potatoes and water melon were the at tractions. Miss Virgie Stanley has been visit ing New Castle relatives the past week. Old Settlers' Day at Pierce's Park was the best one yet. Rev. Lee Cham ness acted as chairman and appointed Squire Fraiser secretary. Then the organization committee was appoint ed which consisted of Rev. G. W. Mar tin, Dr. A. L. Loop and Allie Pierce. Officers were elected as follows: John Maning, president; David Jordan, sec retary: Lewis Chamness, treasurer. Rev. Zerbe of Williamsburg delivered the address of the day , and everyone said it was splendid. The Lynn brass band furnished the music and it cer tainly was appreciated by the large crowd from the way they applauded. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Barnes en tertained several of their friends at dinner Sunday at Central hotel. Mrs. Cramor of the hotel entertained the Bushmans of Modoc and eight regular boarders. Five fried chickens were consumed with other material that goes to make a dinner. The Economy Friends' Sunday school will hold their annual picnic Fridav. August 23, in Albert Jessup's grove, h Pea fed the Worst. A certain railway has a most execra ble roadbed. A new brakeman was making his first run over the road at night and was standing in the centertof the car grimly clutching the seats to keep erect. Suddenly the train struck a smooth plnce in the track and. slid along without a sound. Seizing his lan tern, the brakeman ran for the door. "Jump for your lives!" he shouted. "She's off the track!"
