Mrs. Henry Hussey went to Wyoming, Ohio to visit her brother, Monroe Izor and family, for a few days, yesterday. Sunday services at the Christian church Bible school at 9:15 a. m. Preaching morning and evening by the pastor, the Rev. F. C. McCormick. The Endeavor will meet at the usual hour. Everybony is cordially invit ed to attend these services. Floyd Cook who was bo seriously hurt by his train at Losantville Thursday Is thought to be improving. There is some hope now of his re covery. Mr. and Mrs. Will Wissler have as their guest, at their country home, east of town, Miss Holmes. Mrs. Wiss ler and Miss Holmes were at New Lisbon to spend Wednesday and Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Will Bolan. Miss Carrie Wilkinson, who is a nurse, is home from Indianapolis to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wilkinson, of south of town. Sunday services at the M. E. church Sunday school at 9:15 a. m. There will be no preaching. The Epworth League will meet at its usual hour in the evening. Everyone is invited to attend these services. 8unday services at the Friends' church will consist only of Sunday school, as the pastor and congrega tion will be at Richmond in attendance at Yearly Meeting. Alfred Dickson Hurst, died at his home in Anderson, Saturday after a lingering illness. He is survived by a wife, Mrs. Jessie Hurst and four children, four brothers and two sis ters, who are Joseph and Oscar Hurst, of this township. Mrs. Robert Wilson, of College Corner, Ohio, and Mrs. Florence Triplett, of Blooming ton. The deceased was born on the Hurst homestead farm east of Milton, and was the son of William and Mcrah Hurst. He was bora April 8, 1856. """He took a three years' course at De Pauw and was a member of the Sigmi Chi fraternity. For several years after leaving college he followed the profession of teaching, but in lat er years had followed a business ca reer. He was highly respected in the communities in which he lived. The funeral ' services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home, the Rev. Mr. Naftzger, of Greenfield officiating. Benton Wissler, of east of town, is making a great improvement in hit nice home, by the addition of a large back porch. Word was received by relatives and friends, here, of the death of Nathan iel Caldwell, of Cincinnati, who de ceased at Richmond at the home of his nephew.- A large number of sympathizing rel atives and friends gathered at West side ceemtery yesterday afternoon to witness the last sad rite of the funer al services of the late Mrs. Homer Wissler, of Richmond. Miss Sarah Hussey opened her school at the Hussey schoolhouse west of Milton, Monday. The attend ance was 18 and there will be two ad ditions. The wedding of , Monroe Starr, of Connersville and Miss Barbara Florea, was very beautifully solemnized at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Florea, at Harrisburg, Wednesday. The ceremony was per formed at 8 o'clock p. m., the Rev. W. W. Clark, officiating. There were in attendance about forty relatives and friends and an elegant bridal supper was served. The bride was handsome ly gowned in a white crepe de chene and all the appointments harmonized with, the beautiful decorations of the home, the marriage taking place in a lovely grotto which creation was form ed of ferns, red roses, a large wedding hell of carnations and a palm on eith er side. Mr. Starr is the treasurer of Fayette county and his bride Is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Florea. Mr. and Mrs. Starr will live in Con nersville in their own furnished home. HAGERSTOWN, IND. HAOERSTOWN, Ind., Sept. 21, Miss Georgia Elliott is the guest of her sister, Mrs. George Best at Delphi, Ind. Miss Vera Flemming spent Thurs day and Friday at Indianapolis. Mrs. ' Margaret Presbaugh of New Castle spent Thursday and Friday among friends here. . Rev.- and Mrs. W. H. Jenkns and daughter are spending two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Creek east of town. Rev. Billheimer will fill Rev. Jenkins' appointments during his ab sence. ' Mr, and Mrs. Grover Shin entertain ed Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Replogle and daughter Helen at dinner Thursday evening. Mrs. Will Abbott entertained sev eral guests at a thimble party Friday afternoon. A Tom Thumb wedding will be giv en at the I. O. O. F. opera house Thursday night, Sept. 26, under the auspices of the M. E. church and un der the direction of Miss Helen Gar vin of Cambridge City. The two o'clock Embroidery Club will meet Thursday afternoon of next week -with Mrs. Robt. Thurston. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Teetor Ind Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stonecipher are motor ing this afternoon to Madison, Ind., returning tomorrow. CAMBRIDGE CITY, IND. CAMBRIDGE CITY, Sept. 21. Miss Alfreda Storch is spending a few days with friends in Indianapolis. Charles Shank, residing south of thl3 city, attended the Democratic convention at Richmond, Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Powers and daughters, Edith and Margaret, of Indianapolis, attended the funeral of Mrs. Minnie Pratt in this city, Thursday afternoon and while in the city were guests of Mr. and Mrs. John . Dillon and daugh ter. Mary. Mrs. Charles Myers and Miss Vir ginia Barnett spent the day (Friday) with Mrs. Kate Blue, in the home of John T. Manlove, near Bentonville. Prof. W. J. Bowden, who has been quite ill with.tonsilitis, and unable for duty this week, in the schoolroom, is somewhat improved. While there was no frost, Thursday morning, yet the government ther mometer and the crisp atmosphere in dicate that winter is not far distant, the temperature falling to forty-four above zero. Mrs. C. T. Wright and her guests, Mrs. L. A. Johnson, of Tuscalo, 111., and Mrs. Paul E. Miller, of Williams, Arizona, spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. John Hastings, south of Dublin. W. F. Medsker spent Thursday aft ernoon in Richmond. Mr. and Mrs. Fenn Wonsettler are spending a few days with Mr. qnd Mrs. Leo Gard, of Richmond. Mrs. R. A. Hicks and daughter, Eva Lou, are spending a few days in Indi anapolis on account of the illness of the former's grandmother, Mrs. B. M. Lambert. Floyd Scott has spent the week in Richmond, having entered upon the second year in the Business college. Dr. R. C. Leslie was among the number from this city in attendance at the Democratic county convention, in Richmond, Thursday. The Helen Hunt club will meet Mon day afternoon at the home of Miss Harriet P. Ault. Mrs. Willard Petro will give a map talk on Switzerland; Miss Hannah Overbeck will discuss "Early Swiss History." The Falls sisters will hold their fall millinery opening one week from Sat urday. The recent rains have left the ground in fine condition for wheat sowing, for which the farmers are preparing. Miss Gladys Scott very pleasantly entertained a company of young peo ple from Richmond, Wednesday even ing at her home on East Main street. The evening was spent in a pleasant social manner including a visit to the Theatorium, after which refreshments of cream, cake and fruits were served. The guests included the Misses' Susie Crowell, Lenora Woodworth and the Messrs Losey and Harley Nogle, Ru dolph Weisbrod, Paul Garner of Rich mond, and Miss Lula Martin, of this city. Mrs. Mary Fellows has returned to her home in Carmi, 111., after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Graves. John E. Gray Is spending a few days with relatives in Kentucky. Amos Huddleston, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Lafever and their guest, Al bert Cripe, of Chicago, attended the Fortieth Annual Reunion of the Eighty-fourth regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, at Richmond, Thursday.
