Despite the fact that Judge
Collins has held office for thirty
years the Crookston Times calls
attention to the fact that no
oneficient
of his supporters has ever named
one act ot Ins as a public official,
as a reason why he shoul I be a
governor. He has served in the
legislature, on the district bench
and on the supreme bench dur
ing the most critical time of the
state, yet as far as supporters
know, ho never helped pass a law
and never wrote a decision that
is worth naming in this closely
fought campaign-. Thirty years
a public official he has absolutely
no record to turn to or public act
that he can refer to with pride.
His whole campaign lias con
sisted of attacks upon his oppo
nent's private character and in
sinuations as to his public record.
On the contrary Mr. Dunn has
conducted a campaign squarely
on his record both in the legisla
ture and as a state auditor.
Early the Dunn club of Princeton
issued a pamphlet covering most
of that record and to this day not
one statement in it has been de
nied or questioned by Judge Col
lins or any supporter of his. Yet
that record is the most remark
able in constructive law making,
in~the up building of the state's
school fund, in the decrocise of
tax rate, in the equalization of
taxes between the.rich corpora
tion and the citizen of small
means, ever made-by any public
official of Minnesota. Certainly
the voters of -Minnesota will
stand by their friend plain Bob
Dunn, the man of the people.

POL-ITU'S
The special election called for
next Tuesday for the considera
tion Of the proposed new city
charter is beginning to attract
some attention! So far it has
been overshadowed by other and
nearer political attractions and
there has been little talk on the
charter cjj uestionv That the char
ter has enemies who will be
active to secure its defeat is very
evident and there will be a fight!
The more conservative and long
headed businessmen, however.
in most cases favor its adoption.
The chief argument against it is
that few people are sufficiently
familial" with its provisions to be
able to vote intelligently on the
proposition. The friends of the
Charter hold that this is not suf
reason to warrant the
statement that it should be de
feated. The charter has been
published for some time, freely
circulated in the city newspapers
and all concerned have had an
opportunity to familiarize them
selves With its provisions The
city urgently needs something
that will be more effective than
the present method of city gov
ernment and the charter will not
be without friends to urge its
adoption.
The announcement that Dunn
had carried Benton county re
ceived in the city yesterday af
ternoon was a bitter pill for the
Collins men and all sorts of
stories have been set afloat to
counteract the effect it is having
on the local situation. Interest
in tomorrow's primaries is look
ing up all around today and there
is indication sufficient to warrant
the statement that there will be
an aggressive tight all along the
line by the Dunn forcec.
AMUSEMENTS
The sensational rural comedy
drama, "Joshua Simpkins," will
be produced at' the City Opera
house June 29. The play con
tains an interesting and intelli
gible plot, but it is not allowed to
interfere with the fun. which is
said to-be in abundance. During
the run of the play some startling
scenes and situations are seen,
the principal of which is said to
be the country saw mill, in the
third act, shown in complete
operation,cutting up real timber.
The saw used is the genuine
article, the same as is usually
seen in large country saw mills.

Deafness Cannot be Cured
By local applications, as they can
not reach the diseased portions
of the ear. There is only one
way to cure deafness, and that is
by constitutional remedies. Deaf
ness is caused by an inflamed
condition of the mucous lining of
the Eustachian Tube. When this
tube is inflamed you have a rum
sound or imperfect hearing,
and when it is entirely closed.
Deafness is the result, and unless
the inflammation can be taken
out and this tube restored to its
normal condition, hearing will be
destroyed forever nine cases out
of ten are caused by Catarrh,
which is nothing but an inflamed
condition of the mucous surfaces.
We will give $100 for any case of
Deafness (caused by catarrh) that
cannot be cured by flail's Catarrh
Cure. Send for circulars free.

Have You a Friend Afflicted With
Asthma?
Prank S. Archibald, of West
Swanzey, N. H., writes: For the
past five years I have suffered
with Asthma almost constantly.
I was so nervous at times I could
hardly remain in my school. This
disease coupled with the nei'vous
strain to which teachers are al
ways Subjected, made life almost
unbearable. During a visit to my
home in Hinsdale. Mr. Hann, a
localdruggigt, called my atten
tion to your White Wine of Tar
Syrup. At first I was skeptical
as 1 had tried almost everything
with no permanent help. Finally
I took home a bottle and the cure
it effected seems almost miracu
lous to me after my former re
peated disappointments.
I want to recommend yonr
remedy to everyone who has been
afticted as I was for over five
years and 1 shall be glad to reply
to enquiries regarding my case.
S
