It is seldom, even in the woods, that a scene equals that wit nessed the door yard'of Jester Shy last Friday morning, one mile east of town. A pretty, panting fawn came panting up to the very door and almost sought protection in the arms of Mrs.will Shy, who was standing in the yard, while close behind came leaping a gaunt gray clad timber wolf, which, more timid than its intended dinner, slacked its pace I at the edge of the clearing. The deer stopped out of sight of the wolf, which smelled chicken and veered toward the chicken house. Mrs. Shy seeing her fowls en dangered, gave a lusty shout and wolf and deer moved off in differ ent directions. Mrs. Shy was alone at home, else there might have been some effective shooting done.
