RUSSIAN NAVAL OFFICERS ON BOARD
ESCAPED FROM SHANGHAI AND
HAD TAKEN PASSAGE FOR
Tokio, Dec. 21.The Japanese pro
tected cruiser Tsushima seized the
British steamer Nigretia, bound for
Vladivostok, off TTlsan, Korea. An ex
amination tof the Nigretia's cargo
showed she had a large quantity of
contraband of war on board. She was
sent to Sasebo for trial before the

sian naval officers who were attempt

ture of the north'Keekwan mountain
fort was a brilliant spectacle. For
