HOL INDIAN O N
MURDE CHARG E
Canadian Contractor Killed
an4 Alleged Slayer
Captured.
Koochiching, Dec. 22.WakiTi
Horse, an Indian, better known
as "Crazy Horse." is under ar
rest by the Canadian authorities
at Port Francis and held on a
charge of mudering and robbing
Dan Cameron, a contractor of
that place. Horse's nickname
does not, however, convey the
meaning, that he is insane and it
is probable that he will be requir
ed to pay full penalty of the deed
if convicted.
It is said that Cameron was
buying furs from the Indians
around Mine Center, early last
week, and had made a purchase
from Horse to the amount of $100
and was taking the furs home.
TheIndian followed him and when
the opportunity offered shot
Cameron, killing him.
The Indian took the .furs und
left the body where it was found.
A search was made and Horse
was tracked to Mine Center and
when taken into custody was in
possession of the $100 and the
furs.

TRAIN SERVICE
Rumor That N. P. Trains
Will Be Run From Little
Falls to Northome.
The latest rumor with refer
ence to giving those living along
the cut off between Little Palls
and Staples a day train service
is to the effect that after the first
of the year the Northern Pacific
will run the- train now running
between Morris and Little Palls
through toNorthome on the M.
& I. branch. One train would
leave Morris in the morning and
another would leave Northome at
the same time, making connec
tions with the through trains at
Little, Palls. This wouid send
the Pargo trains Nos. 5 and 6 over
the Staples cut off from Little
Falls instead of via Brainerd and
one of the night trains would go
around by Brainerd. Passen
gers from this line to the cities
would have to change^at Brain
erd and Little Palls as well and
depen'd on three trains
through connections.,.--
