Jack Johnson Again.
Jack Johnson, negro and heavy
weight boxing champion of the world,
has finally married the Cameron girl
just as he had maintained from the
first. She is Johnson's second white
wife. Those- who have been inclined
to pity the girl can now dry their
tears for she married him in the face
of his indictment by a federal grand
jury on a white slave charge. But it
would have been interesting, at least,
to have had Johnson living in the
south instead of in Chicago.
Rhttw Will Be Speaker.
In all probability Henry Rines of
Mora, will be the next speaker of the
house in Minnesota. He is the Re
publican candidate selected by cau
cuses and the Republicans will con
trol. Rines is a country editor, a
fearlers man, a progressive and has
won the oflice without a wholesale
pledging of votes. He should make
one of the best speakers in the his
tory of the state. Rines will be re
membered as the father of the con
stitutional amendment raising the
railroad gross earnings tax from four
to five percent.
The Same Date Again.
For at least another year Northern
Minnesota farmers will have to go to
the state fair with less than first
grade crops to exhibit because of the
time the fair is held. At a meeting
of the American Association of Fairs
and Expositions held this week in
Chicago the request of Minnesota for
a later date was refused and the 1913
fair will be held the first week in
September.
.Following are the fair dates as de
cided upon:
July 21 to 26North Dakota state
Grand Forks.
Aug. 21 to 29Iowa state fair,
Des Moines.
Sept. 1 to 6Minnesota state fair,
Hamline, Minn.
Sept. 1 to 6

Sept. 8 to 13 Wisconsin
fair, Milwaukee.
Sept. 8 to 13Kansas state fair,

Parties In the Schools.
The Minneapolis school board has.
taken a step in advance by opening
the school to pupils for social func
tions provided that the parties are
held under the supervision of the
principals and teachers. A rule was
adopted by the board by which all
parties must be over by 11 p. m. The
High school buildings are the only
ones to be used as the grade school
proposition was put over until a lat
er meeting.
It is true that Bemidji has no
good sized auditorium in the High
school but the gymnasium is large
enough for many of the parties that
are being held elsewhere and could
easily be made the social center of
the school. In many schools which
have not even a gymnasium, parties
have been held in the corridors. A
community has a large amount of
money tied up in school buildings
and equipment and every time it is
uBed after school hours, the commun
ity is receiving additional return on
the investment.
During the fall several dancing
parties were staged at the city hall
under the supervision of the High
school faculty. The floor of the gym
nasium may not be suitable for danc
ing but there are other kinds of par
ties which could bo held there to ad
vantage this winter, The feature of
having all' parties end at 4tt p.m.

MINNEAPOLIS LAST BADLY
SCALDED WHILE COOKING.
While preparing a dinner a young
Minneapolis wife had the misfortune
to scald her hand so badly that over
half the skin came off. She was alone
at the time and rushed over to her
neighbor's for help This neighbor
promptly applied Allen's Ulcerine
Salve and in ten days the hand was
completely healed without a scar.
This salve is one of the oldest rem
edies in America and since 1869 it
has been known as the only salve
powerful enough to cure chronic ul
cers and old sores of long standing.
Because it is so powerful, it will heal
burns and scalds without a scar in
a remarkably short time.
Allen's Ulcerine Salve heals from
the bottom up and draws out the
poisons. If applied on new cuts and
sores it heals one-third the time

MINNESOTA CLIMATE
Being a short article on how the cli
mate of Minnesota has and is af
fecting the life of the people, na
ture of industries, etc. This ar
ticle was prepared especially for
the Pioneer by Eugene Van Cleef,
professor of science in the Dnlnth
State Normal school.
(Continued from Yesterday).
Have the people of this state made
the most of their advantages of clim
ate and soil?" A glance at some of
the European countries will tell the
tale Germany which has an area of
208,830 square miles supports a pop
ulation of close to 60,000,000. Its
area is a little less than three times
that of Minnesota While Germany's
industrial facilities now contribute
very largely 4o the support of this
population, it? should be remembered
that before the height of its indust
rial power nearly 40,000,000 were
fed from the products of its soil,
nearly half of Germany, namely, the
vast North German plain, is a tre
mendous tract of sand good only for

Removed.
There is nothing new about the
idea of using Sage for restoring the
color of the hair. Our grandmothers
kept their hair dark, glossy and
abundant by the -use of a simple
'Sage Tea." Whenever their hair
fell out or took on a dull, faded or
streaked appearance, they made a
brew of Sage leaves, and applied it
tb'their hair with wonderful benefi
cial effect
Nowadays we don't have to resort
to the old-time tiresome method of
gathering the herbs and making the
tea. This is done by skillful chem
ists better than we could do it our
selves and all we have to do is to call
for the ready-made product Wy
eth's Sage and Sulphur Hair Remedy,
containing Sage in the proper
strength, with the addition of Sul
phur, another old-time scalp remedy.
This preparation gives youthful
color and beauty to the hair, and is
one of the best remedies you can use
for dandruff, dry, feverish, itching
scalp, and falling hair. Get a fifty
