The total number1 school agethat is, from six to twen ty years, inclusiveis 648,775, of whom 443,761, or 68.4 per cent, at tended school. In addition to these 9,463 persons under six and 9,643 of twenty-one and over attended school. For boys from six to twenty years, in clusive, the, percentage attending school was'08.1 for girls, 68.7. For children from six to fourteen years, inclusive, the percentage attending was 88.8. The percentage for ohildren of this age among native whites of*native parentage was 88.8 among native whites of foreign or mixed parentage, 89.2 among for eign-bom whites, 8 6 among negroes, 90 and among Indians, 77.8. There is little difference between urban po pulation and rural as regards the per centage of school attendance for the ages from six to fourteen, but of per sons from fifteen to twenty, inclusive, 34.7 per cent in the urban population as against 39.6 per-cent in the rural were reported as attending school.
