The Republicans declare that the new tariff law will reduce the cost of living 66 cents per year per per son. The democrats haven't figured it down as close as this. Some of our citizens are wondering what method the council is going to adopt in order to cut the number of saloons down to the promised num ber. "We should worry", leave it to the council. We have been informed that the going of Mr- Proctor is being lament ed by. Editor Wilson. He was som pelled to rewrite his entire editorial column for this week. What he might have said will be left to the lmmag ination of his readers. In order to get its share of the holiday business the Express com panies have announced that rates will be cheaper after December first They'll have to trot along at a good clip to keep up with Uncle Sam and his parcel distributing organization. Marc Atkinson, editor of the Crosby Crusible is assuming more duties of late than it seems possible for one man to stand. And the fact that he is an editor makes it all the more wonderful. Marc has taken on to himself a wife. Marc is a good man and the chances are that he has made a good selection. He has recent ly .assumed the duties of Postmaster. Then on top of all this he is editor of a newspaper. It will surely keep him "going some." Here's hoping that Marc will keep up the pace in all departments. Bemidji should by all means fight for a mail car on the night trains over the M. & I. to and from the twin cities. At present our mail comes and goes by way of Duluth. it is under stood While we are getting that mail car let us make a good job of it and secure an extra sleeper hitch ed to the rear of that same train. Mr. Gemmel asks us to wait until next summer. Then if the business keeps up the way it has during the past six weeks we'll get, maybe. What's the matter with the giving Bemidji a lift in working up the ex tra business by putting on an extra sleeper, is what our traveling public wants to know. EDITORIAL EXPLOSIONS When a man leaves town to go another town he never gets a job, he always accepts a position.Carlton Vidette, The folowing from the pen.of H. C. Sherwood just about hits the mark: "A' German can drink ibeer all day and-go home like, a gentleman. An Mshnveri takes a few drinks of whiskey and wants to fight. A Scan dinavian drinks a few swallows of alcohol arid then wants to vote for prohibition."Dawson Sentinel. Little -Falls voters rejected the commsslori form of government by 3 to 1. This certainly Is a surprise. HELP WANTED IN BEMIDJI And Famished By the Help of Bem idji People. Those who suffer with kidney backache, urinary ills or any little kidney or bladder disorder, want kid ney help. Who can better advise than some Bemidji resident, who has also suffered, but has had relief. Bem idji people recommend Doah's Kidney Pills. Here's one case and there are many others. Oliver Gordhamer, carpenter, 1200 Dewey avenue, Bemidji, Minn., says: "Some years ago I was annoyed by my kidneys, it hurt to stoop or lift and in the morning, I felt stiff and lame. I used two boxes of Doan's Kidney, Pills and they gave me strength. This remedy can be pro cured at Barker's Drug Store." "When Your Back is LameRe member the Name." Don't Bimply ask for a kidney remedyask dis ttnctly for DOan's Kidney Pills, the same that Mr. Gordhamer had the rsnedy tnrkoO by home testimony. Foster-Mllburn 7 Y-,J* SHB WOULD YOU BE YOUNG AGAIN? Would you be young again? So would not I! One tear to memory given Onward I'd hie. Life's dark flood forded o'er, All but at rest on shore, Say, would you plunge once more, With home so nigh? If you might would you now Retrace your way? Wander through stormy wilds, Faint and astray? Night's gloomy watches fled, Morning all beaming red. Hope's smiles around.us shed, Heavenward away! Come, life and light! Lady Nairne. Located so near St. Cloud, where the commission form has proven such a great success, we had believed our up river neighbors would have im bibed the reform. We cannot under stnad it. There must be somthing back of the opposition not discern ible to the outsider. Little Falls made the greatest mis take in its historySt. Cloud Times. Speaking about errors in type setting, the Pioneer had one two weeks ago, in Moorhead Bros, ad vertisement, wherein the word "dancing" was substituted for the wor "saving" and most everyone in the country got wise to it, and it demonstrated, at least that the ad vertisements are read. But we are not the only ones apt to error. We read in the Thief River Times that "Miss is visiting with her un cleaned aunt" and can see trouble plainly in sight. The Baudette Re gion acused Ranger Kilby of. being a "boaster" when he wanted to say he is a booster, and we find under the heading of "Coming Events.
