Car Applications were received from the following parties for the position of Janitor: Even Nelson, J. H. Wynne and I. O. Ungstad. It was moved by Hayes, seconded by Ellis, that J. H. Wynne be re-appointed janitor of the Court House and Grounds for the ensuing year at a salary of 375.00 per month. Carried. It was moved by Hayes, seconded by Ellis, that JT. E. W. Johnson and Com missioners H. Imsdahl and William Lennon be appointed a Board of Health for the ensuing year, with compensation to the medical member of $20.00 per day and expenses while attending to tthe duties of the office. It was moved by Ellis, seconded by Imsdahl that Nils A. Otterstad be ap pointed State Timber Appraiser for the ensuing year. Carried. It was moved by Ellis, seconded by Imsdahl. that. Henry Pfund be appoint ed Supervisor of Assessments for the en suing year with compensation at $5.00 per day while in service. Carried. Moved, seconded and carried to take recess to 1:30 P. M. Board reconvened at 1:30 P. M. with all members present. Moved by Lennon, seconded by Ims dahl that the following be appointed Assessors and Road Overseers for Un organized territory for the coming year, Ith compensation at the rate of $3.00 ir day while actually in service: District No. 1H. The report of the County Attorney in the matter of expenditures from the County Attorney's Contingent Fund, was read, and on motion duly seconded and carried was approved and ordered filed. The bond of Joseph E. Harris as Pro bate Judge, in the sum of $1,000.00 with the Massachusetts Bonding and Insur ance Co. of Massachusetts as surety was offered, and on motion of Hayes, seconded by Ellis and duly carried, was approved. The report of B. M. Gile, Manager of the State Fair Exhibit, was read, and on motion, duly seconded and carried, was ordered filed. It was moved by Ellis, seconded by Hayes, that the County Surveyor be In structed to survey County Road in Town 147-31. Carried. The application of the Beltrami County Agricultural Development Asso ciation for an appropriation for a fair to be held at Baudette, was taken from the table, and on motion duly seconded and carried, was again laid over till the next meeting. The following petition was presented and read: To the Board of County Commission ers of Beltrami County, Minn.: The undersigned, a majority of the male freeholders who are legal voters of Congressional, Township numbered 159 N. of Range 35 W. in said County of Beltrami, which township contains twenty-five or more legal voters, do hereby petition your honorable Board to be organized as a Town under the provisions of Section 451 of the revised tews of Minnesota for 1905 relating to Township organizations, and that such Town be named NORRIS. Moved, seconded and carried to ad journ to 9:30 A. Wednesday, au Board "reconvened at 9:30 A. M. Jan uary 3rd, with Chairman Rako absent. Board called to order by Vice Chair man Ellis. It was moved by Hayes, seconded by Imsdahl that the firm of Killion Bros, be employed to rebind and repair such books and records of the County at an expense not to exceed $150.00, and such books and records not to be taken from the Court House. Carried. The matter of bids for the County printing came up, and after some dis cussion, it was moved by Imsdahl, sec onded by Lennon, that the bid of the Bemidji Sentinel Publishing Co. of 16 cents per description for the Delin quent Tax List of 1917, be accepted, and Auditor be instructed to prepare contract and bond. Carried unani mously. It was moved by Lennon, seconded by Imscahl that the bond of the Sen tinel Publishing Co. be fixed at $2000 for the publication of the Delinquent Tax List. Carried. It was moved by Hayes, seconded by Imsdahl that the indebtedness of School District No. 15 be proportioned between Districts No. 6 and 15 according to the valuation of the territory taken from District No. 15 and annexed to District No. 6, to-wit: 20.3 per cent to No. 6 and 79.7 per cent to No. 16. Carried. The petition of Louis Johnson et al praying for the establishment of a county road in Townships 152-31 and 153-31 was read, and it was moved by Hayes, seconded by Imsdahl that hear ing be set for February 13th at 11:00 A. M., and that Commissioners Ellis and Lennon be appointed a committee to view the proposed road, to meet on February 1st, 1917. at 10:00 A. M., at corner of Sections 3 and 4, Township 152-31, the beginning of the road. Car ried. It was moved by Lennon, seconded by Hayes, that the partial estimate of the Engineer on the contract of Chas. S. Carter on County Road No. 92 in the sum of $438.32 be approved and ordered paid. Carried. It was moved by Hayes, seconded by Imsdahl that no applications for abate ment or refundment of taxes on timber or timber lands will be acted on by the Board, until consideration has been given the same by the Supervisor of Assessments. Carried. Recess taken to 1:30 P. M. Board reconvened at 1:30 P. M. with Chairman Rako still absent. The petition of Arne Storll praying to be set off from School District No. 8 to District No. 89, came up for hear ing. It was moved by Hayes, seconded by Lennon, that the petition be granted, and the South half of Southwest quarter (S% SW&) of Section 19-146-32 be set off from School District No. 8 to Dis trict No. 89. Carried. It was moved, seconded and carried to appoint Roy Bliler as Engineer to survey Section 17-146-34, and to set time of survey for January 29th. It was moved, seconded and carried to appoint Roy K. Bliler as Engineer to survey Section 16-147-32, and to set time for survey for February 5th. The following resolution was offered by Commissioner Lennon who moved its adoption: WHEREAS the following State Rural Highways, established and constructed as provided by Chapter 254, G. L. 1911, have been fully or partially completed at a cost to Beltrami County of the sums set opposite the number of same, to-wit: State Rural Highway No. 9- "A" completed $ 14,562.17 State Rural Highway No. 9- "B" completed 24,337.97 State Rural Highway No. 9- "C" completed 15,910.37 State Rural High- way No. 12 $111,514.41 Less Koochiching Co. share 26,027.46 85,486.95 State Rural Highway No. 32 completed 138,577.71 State Rural Highway No. 62 nearly completed 95,050.11 THE BEMIBJI DAILY PIONEER Total cost to date $373,925.28 WHEREAS the State Highway Com mission has set aside out of the allot ment made to Beltrami County of the Road & Bridge Fund of the State for 1915 and 1916, the sum of $40,785.16 to meet the liability of the State of Min nesota for a period of two years. NOW BE IT RESOLVED that this Board request the State Highway Com mission to provide from the Beltrami County allotment of the State Road & Bridge Fund, sufficient money to meet said State's share of the liability on the above roads during the years 1917 to 1924, inclusive, and amounting to ap proximately $20,000.00 per year. And the Auditor is hereby instructed to forward a certified copy of this reso lution to the State Highway Commis sion. The motion being seconded by Com missioner Imsdahl, was put to a vote and duly carried. It was moved, seconded and carried to appoint Roy K. Bliler Engineer for the re-survey of Section 34-148-33, said survey to begin on February 12th. It was moved, seconded and carried that Roy K. Bliler be appointed Engi neer for the re-survey of Section 3- 147-33, said survey to begin on Feb ruary 15th. The petition ot Albert Dahl praying to be set off from School District No. 83 to District No. 18 came up for bear ing. It was moved by Commissioner Len non, seconded by Commissioner Hayes, that the petitlast be granted. Carried. The final estimate of the Engineer in MI** f**- the matter of construction of Judicial Ditch No. 21 by the Northwestern Drain age Co. in the amount of $22,063.45 came up for hearing. It being shown that notices had been mailed to inter ested parties, and there being no pro test or complaint, it was moved by Hayes^ seconded by Lennon, that the estimate be approved, and ordered paid. Thurs day, January 4 th, as per adjournment, with all members present: The plat of re-survey of Section 23- 153-31 was presented by the Engineer, and on motion of Imsdahl, seconded by Hayes, and duly carried, the same was approved and ordered filed. The Board then adjourned to the Treasurer's office where they proceeded to count the cash, and made the follow ing report: We, the Board of County Commission ers of Beltrami County do hereby re port that we convened at the office of the County Treasurer of said County on the 4th day of January, 1817, for the purpose of ascertaining and count ing the moneys in the Treasury and be longing thereto.
