er liberal resolution, the house passed one
giving the sergeant-at-arms. Jordan, $100
extra pay.
Then an attempt a made to pass a
resolution giving the assistant sergeant-at-arms
ten days' extra pay. This broimht
Miller, of Morris, to his feet with a speech
denouncing this ns a steal nnd attempt to
raid the treasury.
Benchel, of Montgomery, who Introduced
the resolution, retorted by saying the gen
tlcman from Morris had never been know n
to advocate economy where any of his

the appropriations. This brought Mr. Mill
