, Hawaiian islands, dropped dead on the
huge steamer Cleveland this morning
as he piloting the vessel into
Honolulu harbor.
The pilot was standing at the wheel
when he suffered an attack of heart
failure. The big siip veered around
without a controlling hand, crashing
into the cruiser Colorado, one of the j
American Pacific fleet now in Ha"waiian
waters.
There "was a panic among the tourists
abroad the Cleveland, most of
jwhom were crowding the rails, getting!
their first view of Honolulu. The'
ship's officers succeeded in calming
the excited passengers and the Cleve- j
land was brought to anchor by Cap-;
tain Dempwolf.
The CVleveland came to Manila on
the morning: December 23 with 550
tourists abroad. She departed for
Hongkong and the United States at 4
o'clock on the afternoon of December
24.
