Clean-Up-Day, Soyember 7. The School and Rural School improvement associations will celebrate Clean-Up-Dav, November 7. At some schools the patrons will furnish dinner on the grounds and will work with teachers and children. Teachers will grade and report their school to Miss (ioggans, supervising teacher of country schools, or to Mr. Brown, Xewberry county Superintendent of education according to the following score card. Number of Points Allowed on Various Phases. Yard?Total 20 points?Yard clean, no bushes, stumps, weeds or trash (5); no ash pile (2); no loose paper or lunch thrown down (2); trash barrel or box placed on grounds (2); outhouses clean, unmarked and in good repair, with box of lime in them (5); two or more trees and as many shrubs planted on grounds (4). Water supply?Total 10 points? Good spring well-kept or pump affording pure water (3); water cooler and individual cups, thoroughly cleansed (3); no water oil the floor (1); sink near water cooler (3). Floor walls and ceiling?Total 20 points?Floors scrubbed monthly or properly oiled (5); floors well swept, dust down used when sweeping and no paper on the floors (4); walls well cleaned or tinted a good shade (5); ceiimg a ngutex u.uc \^}, ^ v-v?. calendars or gaudy colored pictures on the walls (4). The Rural School Improvement Association is essential to the life and future * development of any school, i Every lady and girl in the district should -be an active member, and local association. Realizing the imevery man an honorary member of the portance, and to show its apprecia tion and endorsement of the local association, the county board of education makes the following offer to each school in the county: 1. To the school that organizes a School Improvement association, maintains the same during the entire school term, holds at least one monthly meeting, makes monthly reports to the supervising teacher of rural schools or county superintendent of ducation, and raises as much as $10, tlie county board of education will give $5 to the association. 2.
