An extra session of the last General Con

Episcopal church col., of the States of So.th
C-rolina and Georgia is called to convene
in tL city of Charleston, October 31. The
demise of the late Bishop Rt. Rev. Win. C.
Johnston, is the occasion of the call for the
purpose of electing and consecrating an
other for the Episcopal Chair. The Rt. Rev.
C. R. Middleton, of this county who is
general Secretary of the denomination is
bishop pro tem by virtue of his office. The
general sentiment of the whole denomina

the elevation of the general Secretary to the
Episcopal Chair, and probably he may
gain the majority vote in the General Con
