On Friday evening Jlr. and Jfrs Keeny invited a few intiHie loving friendu to meet tlieir guestH Mr. and Mrs Dueklin and MUs Fuuglit of Snyder, Texas, and Mrs. Texa--da. of Alexandria. Miss Faught is a very gifted music pupil of Mr. Dueylin and the entertainment of the evening asaw veritable music feast. Mr. Wilson aeeompauied on the piano !y Mrs. Wilson delighted all pres eut with a tenor solo. , Miss Montgomery, n real' tist played her lateNt eompositic After which Mrs. I. M. Lo m sang a scotch song: "Angus Mc Donald.' The industrial orchestra played a much enjoyed selection "Under the Lillics." Then Miss Faught, aeeompauied on the violin by Mr. Uucklin and on the piano by Miss Montgomery, sang in a full clear wel trained voice, "Answered" by Uobyn, whic'i everyone enjoyed. After Mrs. Thatcher finished telling, as only Mrs. Thatcher can of the woes of a washerwoman, whose daughter '.iad gotten higher culture. Miss Faught very graciously sang: "You are tic Ideal of my Dreams" by Ingralmm. After this Mr. John Graham sang two exquiaite fiowcr songs: "The Message of the Violet and the Mission of the Hofc." Then Miss Faught, vitli Mr. I'ueklin as accompanist, layed on the violin that most sold touching opera "Jl Trovatore" by Veidi. While the orchestra sent forth the sweet, strains of "Silver Threads among the Gold." Mrs. Keeny and Miss Keeny its sisted by little Misses Mary aid Francis Wilson served Iclieioi 'ream and cake. When this was over at the re- (iiest of all present, Mr. Mueklin and Miss Faught played two love ly violin duds: 'The Dying Poet" and "Alice, Where art Thou." While nil were loth to leave such delightful music and such charming hosts, the lateness of the hour forced a reluctant departure all Imping that Mr. and Mrs. Kee ney would give us similar pleas ure again soon. Mr and Mrs. Leslie left Sunday evening over the Santa Fe for the Birthday Reception. Tate Lockhart celebrated his thirteenth birthday in July 'JOth. On arriving in the hall the guests were requested to registeri and were served with delicious fruit punch, Miss Hunter very gracefully presiding at the punch howl. They werethen ushered into the parlor where they had music and played games. One especially in teresting game was the wax con test. The boy and girl making the most perfect wax animal was a- warded the prize, an extra saucer of cream. Miss llene Harpole and Master Hollingsworth were the prize win nerrf. After this they assembled on the gallery, where the photograph er with his machine awaited them. They werethen ushered into 1 1n dining room where a tempting re past was laid. The dining room was beautiful ly decorated in honeysuckle, ferns and pink roses, the color scheme of pink and white was successful ly carried out in the refreshments The table was laid in hand eiu hroideried damask, the center piece being a large cut glass bowl of delicious fruits. The birthday cake was decorat ed with thirteen pink and white candles. The children had quite n jolly time trying to tell their fortunes by blowing out the candles. One little girl succeeded in blowing out almost the entire thirteen. Delicious pink , and white iei cream was served to '.heir hearts content by Mrs. Lockhart. ably assisted by Miss Nation. The (able was then cleared and the cake of fortune was laid on the boiii.l to be cut. Not withstanding th lowering clouds a full attendance was had. We no ted with pleasure, several visitors. Come again.. Mrs. Cloyed being absent, the meeting was presided over by Mrs. Hakcr at the special request of Mrs. Faught, the vice president. The program waH carried out as arranged, the reports from the different nations being quite in teresting. The report of Mexico by Miss Grace Ingram was especially ap preciated as Mexico is on our own continent and Miss Grace has made it a special study. One cannot attend thescmeet iugs without gaining enthusiasm on the subject. The special music by the Misses Grayum was much enjoyed and deserves special mention. The business session was made as brief as possible on account of the lateness of the hour and the threatened shower. Our pastor be ing the only gentleman present, we made him the guest of honor :iid allowed him to lead th. way lo the dining room, aeeon.p;.nie', by Mrs. J. E. Smith.
