Mr John Monroe of near Horton
died last Saturday and was burled at
the Bethel graveyard Sunday Mr
Monroe was a highly respected citizen
and his loss will be greatly felt by the
community in which he lived His
death was due to a complication of dis
eases
Mr C M Taylor who was attend
ing medical school at Louisville Ky
died at St Josephs Infirmary last 1
Sunday evening He was a bright
and noble young man and died loved
and regreted by many His remains
were taken to South Carrollton for
burial

Mr Jesse Magan of near Sulphur
Springs died recently of pneumonia
after a brief Illness Mr Magan was
one of the countys very best citizens
He had obtained the nge of sixty five
when called from the peaceful walks
of life His remains were laid to rest
in the Midkifi burying ground after
funeral services had been conducted
by Rev G J Bean He leaves a wife
and four children and a host of friends
to mourn his eternal absence

An accident unparalled In Ohio
county occurred in the West ProvU
dence community Dec 30th The
scene of this awful misfortune was
the happy home of Mr Noah Bur
deu Mrs Burden was out on an er
rand at the well leaving her little
children alone in the room The
elder was in advance of two years
The baby was about three months
old The little one was tied in a
rocking chair and placed near the
fire for comfort It was left in care
of the twoyeariold child In the
mothers absence it is supposed that
the child was rocking the little one
when an unfortunate moment the
chair was overturned Both of the
little ones landed in the fire remain
ing there until screams hastened
their mothers return After a day
of awful suffering the baby died early
Saturday evening Funeral exercises
were conducted at West Providence
Sunday by Rev H Brown The ei
der child was badlyiburned and not
expected to recover but at last re
ports It yet lives
