Walter Johnson a little son of Mr
William M Johnson was shot iu the
leg Tuesday morning by his father
and quite badly hurt It was the re
sult of an accident Mr Johnson in
company with several friends had
started out for a hunt his little son
accompaning the crowd They had
not gone far before a flock of robins
was found and Mr Johnson in ad
justing one of the plungers of his
gun preparatory to shooting pressed
the cap two hard and an explosion
occurred His little sou was standing
close by and received a portion of the
charge of shot in the calf of his leg
producing a very painful wound He
waB at such close range that the
flflsh of his leg was ulso badly pow
der burned

Judge Morrow Tuesday aud given
35 days in the work house When
Brewer shail have completed his sen
tenca he will ba arraigned on the first
charge and the chances are that he
will get another term

Judge W L Reeves would contest
the election of Judge Guffy the re
cent Republican candidate against
him for judge of thw court of appeals
whom the face of the returns iu the
late election gave 861 majority
Hon W F Browder of Hussellyille
will be the chief attorney for Judgo
Reeves and ho will have many valu
able assistants from the bar of tho
district The governor attorney gen
eral of the Stite secretary of State
and auditor will be the tribunal before
whom the contest will be tried The
court of appeals is the highest court
in the State aud in the past has been
graced by the ablst lawyers in the
Commonwealth and its present
judges are eminent men in their pro
fession and if Judge Reeves is suc
cessful in his contest case he will be
the noblest Roman of them all Tho
concensus of opinion here is that
Reeves will and ought to be success
ful and the matter of contest is ap
proved by the leading Democrats
