Worth Weight In GoM
Abingdon, Va. -Mrs, Jennie Mc
Call, of this place, says, "I had been
troubled with female complaints,
for over ten years. I could not walk
or stand on my feet, and had been
almost confined to the house, for a
long time. I began to take Cardui,
the woman's1 tonic, and now I can
walk anywhere 1 want to go. Car
dui is worth its weight in gold."
This is a high estimate on a plain,
herb medicine, yet there are thous
ands of women who would gladly
pay this price for a remedy to relieve
their suffering. Cardui has helped
others. Wny not you? Try it.
Your druggist' sells it, in $1 bottles.

Illuminated Captive Balloons Uoed In
Germany to Guide Aeronauts
Tho progress of nircraft in Qcr

'that illuminated captive balloons
are now being used for tho purpose
of guiding aeronauts by night. One
of these has lately been placed nt
Treplow, between Berlin nnd Stet

is of a red color and carries an elec
It is visible for a great distanco
at night, and is easily distinguished
from any other light. In case of
fog, whon the light could not be
seen, an electric bell is caused to
ring by means of a hygrometer at
tached. In this way it is possible
for a person in charge to ascertain
the height of the fog zone and cause
tho balloon to ascend into a les3
mbist and clearer atmosphere, when
the bell will cease ringing.

MOST PRECIOUS GIFT.
' Of all the gifts that have been be

that that' of laughter is one of the
most precious; and yet we do not
know why we laugh, though one
clever man recently took it upon
himself to tell us the reason. He
asserts, for instance, that we laugh
"when some one falls down' in thQ

'As a matter 'of fact civilizttl Tier

because We .know it is make-believe ;
but "we are humane enough nowa

a fall which may result in a broken
leg or a dislocated shoulder.
The causes of laughter are one of
