Langdon has always taken an act

besides financing theerection ot the I

contributed liberally to the school
in the way of scholarships Mrs
Langdon was very much pleased
with the conditions in which she
iouud every thing at the Brown

the number ol scholarships and
when the question comes before
the board as to the future of the
school she will heartily recommend
that the Brown Memorial Industrial

The State Geological Survey
had an expert in here several
weeks this summer On account
of the position and prominence
he selected the
Town Hilt as
an exponent of a definite and im
portant geological formation In
recognition of some service render
ed he designated the 60 ft ledge
of sandstone the Lovell sand
and described it in detail He
also noted a 4 ft vein of superior
plastic fireclay and a 3ft vein
of fire clay with c4 inches of coal
over it besides a good deposit of
ganisler The 14 inch vein of
coal will probably run 21 to 23
inches
By this you see we have all the
natural elements grouped together
for the manufacture of fire brick
Moreover practical men say that
our sand right here within the
corporate limits of the town is
first class for the manufacture of
common brick fancy face brick
and with the time added grani
toid brick
Now the question is shallwe
remain self satisfied and inactive
waiting for strangers to come in
and get rich off the things God
left in our hands for generations
Unless we improve the talents
given us it will be vith us like it
was with the poor wretch who
buried the talents his Lord had
given himthe little we have will
be taken from us and given to
those who can see ago thing
ahead audare willing to work
