ATE SIXTY FIVE DUCKS
Gastronomic Feat of a New York
Snake
For somo timb past Thomas Mhoon
a tfuck farmer living near Brooklyn
has beon missing each day a number
of youug ducks Thoy disappeared so
mysteriously that their loss could not
be accouulod for in auy manner All
theories as to how tlioy wore taken
wore smashed to pieces when it was
known that no ono had beon near tho
place during cho day where thodiicks
wero wont to pass away the tiino No
leathers or other vestige could be
found which would havo undoubted
ly been tho case if tho fowls had been
made awO with by a hawk or some
varmint
Whon sixty five of the fluffy young
sters had disappeared Mhoon deter
mined to watch tho ducks for a day
He followed them down in ho field to
l ho littlo branch wherothey slipped
into tho water No soonor had they
arrived thoro thau shades of St
Patrick from a neighboring clumpol
bushes appeared such a snaky as
Mhoon had never 6oen before outside
of a show lie is uot a drinking man
and is not accustomed to soo such
things in broad day light but he had
to pinch himself to mako certain that
ho was in his right senses Whilo his
oyes stuck out of his hoad in terror
tho monster snake glided up to the
ducks whon thoy all set up a terrific
quacking as if thoy know tho end of
tho world was coming for somo of
them
By this time the man had recovered
himself and hastily running to the
house and secured his shotgun and
returned to where he had seen tho
When ho reaflied thoro ho found tho
snako which seemed fifteen feet long
and one foot thick making oil with a
duck in its mouth Mlloon pulled tho
trigger of tho gun When the smoke
cleared away tho reptllo was stretched
mt lashing its tail in fury Mhoon
kept away until its struggles had
ceased and approached it Ho found
out it was as long as a fenco rail
about uino feet four inches E G
Miller a cigarmakor of No 550 Wil
son streot helped Mhoon measure the
snake and will vouch for tho reliabil
ity of tho measurements Baltimore
