Members ot the Tobacco Mer
chants' Association of the United
Sates in convention at Washington,
were assured by President Charles J.
Eisenlohr, Philadelphia, that to
bacco and liquor would not be buri
ed in the same grave. He said there
was not the slightest basis for fear
that use of tobacco would- be pro
hibited. "Tobacco does not excite or intox
icate, but it soothes and pacifies,"
Mr. Eisenlohr said. "It promises
sober deliberation and moral con
tentment. It does not lure men
from the fireside, but cements fam
ily ties."

In some of the cities of this country
the fire loss amounts to eight or ten

Was In Misery Every Minute of Day
and Night Before Taking;
Tanlac
A. C. Carpenter, 1905 Virginia
avenue, Huntington, West Virginia,
bill clerk for the Huntington Lum
ber Supply Company, is still another
who has cause to be glad he was in
duced to give Tanlac, the "Master
Medicine," an honest trial.
"Talking about things that help
people," said Mr. Carpenter lecent
ly, "Tanlac has done me more good
than anything else I ever got hold
of. Before I took it I had been in
the worst kind of a fix for more than
a year, but now I am just like a
rew made man.
"I had gotten in such bati shape
on account of stomach trouble, loss
of appetite and poor digestion that
I was constantly losing time from
my work. My wife would fix up all
kinds of good things trying to tempt
my appetite, but after eating a
mouthful or two my stomach would
rebel and I simply had to leave the
iable without eating any more
What little I did manage to force
down would sour, causing gas and
such violent pains m my stomach
that I could hardly stand it. Some
limes I suffered so much agony that
I just felt like I could not live an
other hour. My tongue was coated
all the time, I had raging head
aches and suftered so that every
thing seemed blurred to me, and
while these spells were on me, and
they usually lasted for several min
utes, I couldn't see. When not in
pain I felt sluggish and drowsy and
wanted to sleep, but my sleep was
unnatural and did not seem to rest
me.
"I was under treatment several
times, but no one seemed to under
stand my case and I kept getting
worse until there was hardly a
minute night or day but what I was
in misery. I read a statement in
the paper describing a case like
mine that TaiUac had relieved, but
as I had always been prejudiced
aginst all advertised medicines,
I passed it up, believing
that it would not help me.
But one day I wras talking with a
friend who had taken Tanlac with
fine results, and he told me if I
tried it and it did not help me he
would refund my money out of his
own pocket. Well I bought a bot
tle and sure enough just as he told
me, I had not finished taking it be
fore there was a marked impiove
ment in my condition. Then I got
another bottle and now my stomach
trouble is gone entirely. The
headaches have also left me and my
sleep is natural,) sound and lestful.
I am working regularly every day
now and feel just fine, but, hon
estly, I don't believe I would have
gotten will if I had not taken Tan
lac. I just want to give all the
praise, thanks and gratitude I can
find words to express to Tanlac and
my friend who persuaded me to try
it, and from now on I will never
doubt anything good I read about
Tanlac." v
Tanlac is sold in Paris at the Peo
ple's Pharmacy. (adv)

Over fifty years ago a young
physician practiced widely in a
rural district and became famous
for his uniform success in the
curing of disease. This was Dr.
Pierce, who afterwards estab
lished himself in Buffalo, N. Y.,
and placed one of his prescriptions,
which he called "Golden Medical
Discovery," in the drug stores of
the United States so that the pub
lic could easily obtain 'this very
remarkable tonic, corrective and
blood -maker. Dr. Pierce manu
factured this " Discovery" from
roots and barks a corrective
remedy, the ingredients of which
nature had put in the fields and
forests, for keeping us healthy.
Few folks or families now living
have not at sometime or other used
this "Golden Medical DiscoyAy"
for the stomach, liver and heart.
Over twenty -four million bottles
of this tonic and blood remedy
have been solcLih this country.
Millions of men and women have
proved "Bayer i ablets of Aspirin"
with the "Bayer Cross" on tablets,
the quickest, surest, safest relief for
their Headaches, Colds, Neuralgia,
Toothache, Earache, Rheumatism,
Lumbago, Neuritis. Pain seems to
fade right away.
Buy only a Bayer package con

tay "Bayer."
Handy tin boxes of 12 tablets
