The battalions of police proceeding to

from the people. The itreets of the city

not confined to the buildings on the route

thousand men reported for work at the
Union Stock Yards this morning. Every?
thing is quiet, and ro disturbance of any
kind is reported to-day. The soldiers
started on their rounds at 5 o'clock and
patrolled the entire district. Most of the
men who came to the yards were brought
in by the train. There were no assaults
on any of them so far as knowu.
