There was general buying on strong cable ro p'orts. and offerings heingcomparatively small, prices wore advanced with only slight fluctuations. There was good outside business, and local operators also traded more freely. The demand exceeded the supply. Opening was \, and advancing almost steadily, closed at 1 Ii higher. Corn was quite active at times. Good speculative business was transacted within %(<?1 range. The fooling pre? vailing was stronger and still further advanco was recorded on all futures. Advance was due largely to the raise in wheat and oats. First trades were at small decline, but prices soon advanced and closed \$ higher, (?als- trading was large and well divided. Interest was in 'May. Market opened unsettled at M@\4 de? cline. Weakness was only temporary, as buyers outnumbered sellers, and prices moved up 1 !:?. This brought out increased offering and on sales to realize prices fidl off fractionally. Closo was steady. Mess pork more doing early sale were at 2% decline, but prices quickly rallied I0@12% later and closed steady, but with part of advance lost. Lard trading moderate. In some instance stances advance 2% was effected. Short rib sides fairly good trade was reported. Prices were little more favorable to sellers and market closed steady at out? side figures. Tlio Sadter-t.iiKlsav Murder Trial Con <-iuOoil? Siuilor's Sentence. Tho case of William Sadler indicted for the murder of John Lindsay, colored, occupied a large share or the attention of the court yesterday. Lindsay and several white men were at Woodland Park driuking whiskey and he and Sadler bad a misunnder.standing. Ac? cording to tho testimony of witnesses Lindsay used abusive epithets towards Sadler, and the latter, when Lindsay was lying down under tho trees, called him to account and, it is said, struck him on the head with a stone. Lindsay ran off and a few days after? wards was attacked with inflammation of the brain, which caused his death. The attorneys for Sadler were Messrs. Berkley and Phlegar, and Roy 31. Smith, Esq., represented the State. A number of witnesses were examined, and after the case had been fully argued tho jury returned a verdict fining Sad? ler 8500 and sentencing him to three moths' contlnonient in the city jail.
