Gallipolis, McArthur & Columbus

the Valley of Little Raccoon from

reasons, ho states the route would

four of the six would depend en

a salt, even in a small qtorYtity,
there 13 cuemical disaggrega

tively electrified. The average
evaporation from the ocean
equals about nine feet of water
per annum. This reduced
gives the enormous amount of
ot more than 2,000,000,000
tons per minute, consequently
the vnpors of the atmosphere,
as a whole, are positively,
while the earth and ocean are
negatively electrized; and elec
trometers have shown, that the
higher we ascend, the more
highly positive is the tension,
according to the testimony of
all observers, aurora boreal is is
always attended by a peculiar
haze or veil, which, although
allowing the light of the Btars
to pass, gives the sky a sombre
aspect. This haze is not known
to be composed of fine trans
parent icy needles. Then such
naze or particles of ice are pre
cipitated from vapor highly
electrized; the electricity be
comes free and luminous. It is
concluded, therefore, that the
aurora borealis arises from the
electric discharges, which takes
place between the luminous icy
particles, which in infinite
numbers communicate with the
earth or moist air below.
The most beautiful girl in
the united States lives near
Lincoln, 111. Her hair is of
that particular hue that a field
of ripe wheat throws toward
the settiDg sun. Her eyes send
forth a light eo effulgent and
magnetic that strangers be
come spellbound under its in
fluence and stand rudely gaz
ing. Her cheeks bear a bloom
like the sunny side of an early
peach. A pearl would seem
almost black beside her teeth
Her form is so graceful that
men worship her before seeing

bushels were sown in the same

were found to yield one-third
