The Loveliest Spot.
Man loves the green sunny
Riiotd of earth. A tradition
seems to lurk iu the memory
even of the dweller amidst
1 tricks and mortar which in-clint-3
his soul with an uncle
lined longing towards nature
arrayed in her unadorned sim
plicity. There is a charm
about the idea of the green
wood r-hade, and a conch of
velvet grau, which iaseinatcs
the nan in his childhood, and
grow3 with him, as years in
crease, into absolute fondness ;
as if tin; capacity fur the orig
inal no made existence he
enjoyed was destined by the
unalterable laws of his con
stitution never to he eradicated.
Hence, the flowers we see
tended with
the squalid
larrrc cities,
so much care in
districts of our
and the arid
j latches, with plants piuing in
tlie' shade, cultivated with an
assiduity which npoligizes for
many, n- grave error. But of
all the places which Providence
by ' the instrumentality of an
advanced degree of civilization,
lias created fur the comfort of
man, it U home.
