The Meeting in McArthur
To-day.
1 The Democratic meeting tc
dav is a success, many voters
of both parties being present
from all part3 of the county.
The meeting is being held in
Sherwood's Grove, east of town,
and organized by calling Hon.
Alomnd Soule to the Chair.
Three speakers are present:
Gen. Geo. W.Morgan, our can

Cockerill, candidate for Aud

of Columbus.
Co). Cockerill made one of
the best speeches ever heard in
this county to a very enthusi
astic audience, and it had a
good effect. Several Uepnb
licaus were present, and the
eloquence of the facts and the
figures, as ably and earnestly
presented by the Colonel, made
them feel that their checks
were being passed in.
I Gen. McCook having been
traveling and speaking almost
daily during the past three
weeks, ami being unwell and
unable even to fill the appoint
ment Yesterday, only made
a few appropriate remarks.
At 5 o'clock the meeting
adjourned to assemble at 7
