Potato Pudding. Boil
three large, mealy potatoes,
manlv them very smoothly witl

llshed at Eskridge, Waubuusoo
county, Kansas, at $2 per year to
single subscribers or $1.50 to clubs
often or moro, $1.25 to clubs not
less than twenty. All clergymen,
teachers, lawyers, doctors aud busi
ness men generally, and postmas
ters, nro agcntti and will bo ullowed
to retain 25 per cont. the first year
on subscriptions.
The paper will not be merely lo
cal but Slato nnd national. It Will
adhere to the ancient landmarks
with tho modern changes for the
better.
It will advocate a new location of
tho National Capitol distant from
all approaches of the enemy to a
central position in the republic and,
thoreforo, oppose further unneces
sary outlays of money whore the
Capitol now is.
2nd. Tho Land Mark will advo
cate and oncourago tho settlement
of our domain, by inviting indus
try and capital with a judicious Bys
tom of internal improvements.
3d. It will urge upon Congress
and the country tho justice and ex
pediency of immodiato legislation
for tho benefit of the soldiers of the
republic, securing to them, in time,
their just proportion of tho public
lands as a recognition of thoii; suf
fering and dovotion.
4th. It will advocate ft change
in the modo of 'appointing" Uni
ted States Sonators, so as lo elect
them by tho people.
5th. It will urgo as a matter of
convenience and public safety, that
the President be elected by tho di
rect voto.
Wo have avoided any high sound
ing titles for our paper, and shall
labor to presorvo tho ancient fra
ternizing and laud marks, socially
nnd politically, bo fur as they may
bo compatible with tho progress of
the ago.
Correspondence is solicited.
We start out with a seven column
paper, with tho wish to enlarge as
may bo justified. It will bo neatly
printed on good paper.
Let us work to perpetuate what
has been so nobly preserved.
