Year's Greeting," in pamphlet form,
which we reeoivod on Jfew Year's
Day, in which the noble officers of
the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, the
Greatest Railway Lino on he Con
tinent, wished "A happy Now Year
to its friends of the Press, the Ho
tel?, the Railroads, and tho Travel
ing Public, and hoping that they
may enjoy without alloy many hap
py years to come." It is truly "the
Pioneer Railway of tho United
.States." From tho cover of this
address we learn that tho Baltimore
& Ohio Company 'was organized
April 21,1827, and was tho first
railroad operntod in the United
StaU'S under a charter fur tho trans
p illation (if passengers. Tho coii

menced July 1, 1323. The firt
slono was laid by tho venerable
Charlbs Cahholl, of Carrollton.
