The Magnitude of our Debt.
If the statement of the Rad
ical press are true we shall
soon be out of debt. That we
are out of debt. That we are
a great people, and taking the
Yankee portion, a very smart
people no intelligent person
will deny: but are we able to
accomplish what has been an
impossibility to all other na
tions? The debt,including the
State, county, corporation, mu
nicipal and National, accumu
lated duriog the ten years of
the Lincoln Administration, is
greater than the bonded debt
of the whole civilized world
that have been contracted in
any fifty years of the world's
-history. We have not yet
found, in any form of publica
tion, an attempt to collate these
these facts for the benefit of
those who should understand
our financial condition. The
groans and cries of overtaxed
America, will be as deep in 1971
as it is in 1871. No copper
head of 18613 was half a3 bitter
ns will be the Copperhead of
fifty or a hundred years hence,
when the full force of this great
villainy will have crushed out
the energies of two or three
' generations. Like Ireland,
after eight hundred years ot
bondage, we shall have begun
to feel the wretchedness of our
conditions. There is no hope
for this country except in years
of toil, years of unceasing labor
to overcome the last ten years
of folly and recklessness. We
are in debt, wofully in debt,
nationally, municipally, corpor
ately and individually in debt
nnd nothing hot the produc
tive element of our population
cau liquidate its untold mil
lions. Eadical taxation and
oppression, by which the
monthly statements of the
National debt fill the columns
of the Eadical newspapers to
satisfy the demands of an op
Vressed nation will not pay it.
Tha whole country is groaning
under a mighty insolvency, not
the National Government alone
lint forty millions of people,
who alone, by their productive
industry, can wipe it away
from our course of prosperity;
No legislation at Washington,
except that by which the peo
ple can be legislated into pro
ductive industry, will deliver

AT OXCE.
Wherever Poke Hoot grows, It has a TJfUl

and others,) who have touted its meillcnl powers,
it has been neglected by the profession at Inreo,
