Godey's Lady's Book for March
is the first of the monthlies in the
field, The embellishments are su
perb, and the display of fashions on
the colored plate and extension
sheet are quite bewildering to, the
masculine mind, seventeen different
styles being given. The popularity
of the Lady's Book can bo inferred
from the fact that a sixth edition of
tho January and February numbers
was required to meet tho extraor
Brainard's Mcsicai. World for
March is just received, and is an
unusually attractive number. It
contains a very choico selection of
miscellaneous musical reading,
ranging from "grave to gay, from
lively to severo," a ploasing story,
"Appnsibnn-to," and a number of
well-written, pointed editorials.
The record of "music at borne and
abroad" is quite full and interesting,
while tho personal notes, notices of
new sheet mnsic publications, and
general musical notes, are just what
will interest every one.
Tho mnsio in this number is
"Mother and I have been waiting,"
a Temperance song and chorus; "Sil
very Ripples Sehottische;" and
"Bessie's Favorite, "a pleasing little
rondo for the piano.

the Governor said to him:
