Bingham, the mur derer of Mrs. Suratt, an inno cent woman, was defeated for re-nomination for Congress, in tho Sixth District Republican Convention, held at Bellaire, July 31st. The final vote, 7th ballot, stood 53 for Bing ham to 55 for Capt. Lorenzo Danford, of St. Clairsville. It is a fine opportunity to se lect a future home in the Great West. Round trip tickets, good for thirty days, will be placed on sale from Parkers burg and Marietta $32.75, from Cincinnati 25 75. Finally a tele gram was set to Long Branch where His Excellency was en gaged in the refreshing occu pation of enjoying a cigar and keeping cool. But he was willing to go to up vYasnmiriaui in case there was business or importance I And there are excellent Republicans who can't understand why Liberals object to Grant. Many can understand why aarge major ity of the people of North Car olina are opposed to Grant. Samuel A.
