The Police Jury of the Parish of St. John the Baptist met in ac cordance with previous notice and I adjournment, for the purpose of opening bids for the purchase of their road bond issue of One Hund red and Eighty Thousand Dollars ($180,000.00) and promptly at eleven o'clock a m. the Police Jury was called to order at Ed gard, Louisiana by the President. and there were present: Messrs. F. Reynaud, P. Barre, P. G. Songy, P. A. Cassagne, Cyrille Bahin and A. Lasseigne. Absent: None. The Secretary at his desk. There were found to be four bids. The bid of Well, Roth & Com pany being less than par was not considered. The bid of the Interstate Trust & Banking Company being par less $6, 095.00 for expenses, print ing of bonds and legal services. The bid of the Hibernia Bank & Trust Company being par, accru ed interest and $12100 they to have the deposit of the proceeds vithout interest and also to be fis cal agent for the collection of all 1 these, and The bid of Elston & Company of Chicago, Illinois. being par, ac crued interest and a premium of $100.00 with the condition that the proceeds of sale be deposited with the Interstate Trust & Bank ing Company without interest until expended. I "South Louisiana Fair Day" at the Jefferson Parish Fair, to be held at Shrewsbury from November 21 to 25, will ibeone of the biggest days the program should attract crowds from the parishes making up the great South Louisiana Fair Association. t Sunday,the closing day of the Jefferson enterprise, has t been dedicated to the South Louisiana interests and Leo A. Marrero, president of the local fair body, with his asso ciates of the board of direc tors, will welcome with open arms the visitors that day. Excursions will be run on the different railroads. Those who visited Jeffer son's first parish fair held last year at Gretna, were en thused over the magnitude of the undertaking and the I splendid results of the efforts of Mr. Marrero and his co-. workers in attaining their I goal. The fair was declared to have been one of the most complete in the entire state. These local officials are shooting higher this year anc' they are confident of againr I being succesful. • While the program has not been completed, it is certain I that Mr. R. S.
