The annual report of the city olti clals will be compiled in the near fu ture and should be ready within two weeks. The report will xhow a healthy condition of linanccs for th- past year. The city has been able to retire $:!l,: '.94. li worth of bonds during the .war and the saving In Interest on tins- will be considerable. The bonded in debtedness of the city is now but $19C,708. Pingrce, which provides for the labeling of shoes In which imitation leather is substituted for the leal article, j The senator found the law in go ing into the matter of pure shoe leg islation. Its only difference from the bill he has Introduced lies in the fact ' that tho prosecuting attorney Is given the responsibility for the ( nforcenicn of the law upon complaint of individ uals, while the W'oo.lwoitli proposal puts It In the hands of the state dairy and food commissioner. I Dairy and Food Commissioner Janus Helme is welcoming Just such laws as this and it Is probable the Wood worth bill will be changed simply to amend tho existing law to provide that It .shall he enforced by Hclme's department. There can be no objection, he says, to such a move because the law h 's been in effect upward of 10 years. Th fact that such a law has existed and has accomplished no Injury ho claims is the best argument against tire oh : Jcctions to the bill. TOURNAMENT EXTENDED.
