Tho Administration Endorsed
Along With tho Present
At a meeting of the Hogg Club at
Whito Hall, on Friday night, the Sth
inst, the following preamble and reso
lutions were adopted:
Whereas, A herce and relentless
warfare is now being waged against
Gov. James S. Hogg and tho railroad
commission law, and the battle trium
phantly fought and won two years
ago, is again to be fought in tho ensu
ing campaign, with the relentless and
uncompromising opponents of a rail
road commission. The issue of this
oamnaien is commission against no
commission, commission againat cor
porate power, equal rights and protec
tion ' against unju3t discrimination,
and extortionate chargos.
The battlo cry, "Turn Texas Loose"
simply means, give the railroad full
sway and manacle Texas.
Resolved 1st. That in Gov
ernor Hogg, tbo people
of Texas have an efficient
publio servant who has redeemed
every pledge and promise and come up
to the full measure of the standard in
honest capacities, therefore, we in
dorse his administration and urge Mb
Resolved 2nd, Tho administration
of Gov. Hogg has beon conservative,
fearless, able and honest, and in har
mony with the principles set forth and
promulgated in tho platform upon
which ho was elected.
Resolved 3rd, That in our present
railroad commission onaotod accord
ing to the expressod wishes of the
people of Texas, wo have an impreg
nable fortress against unjust discrimi
nation and extortionate charges of
corporate power, and one that does
equal and exact justice both to the
people and the railroads.
Resolved 4th, That in tuo granu
old Roman of tho people, Hon. John
H. Reagan and his colleages we have
faithful, efficient and impartial com
missioners, and we pledge ourselves
to stand by and support them in tho
execution of our railroad commission.

Mr. Leslio Davis' company has had
a very successful engagement at the
People's Theatre throughout the week.
Last night was the greatest success of
the week, as the best audience of the
soason crowded the theatre to witness
the production of "Damon and Pyth
ias" by this excellent company. Tho
knights were predominant, Apslo
division attending in a body in full
uniform, Mr. Lindon takes the strong
character of Damon with much force,
and the audience were stired by the
several climaxes. The whole company
did very creditable work. The audi
ence was well pleased, and Mr. Lindon
was repeatedly called belore the cut

Tho Soanco Last Night.
A private seance for lateralization
was held last night at the residence of
Mesdames Tabor and Brown, on
South Fourth Street. Mrs. Tabor en
tered the cabinet and the exercises
were opened with a beautiful invoca
tion by Mrs. Brown. Vocal and in
strumental music were next in order
and soon many hands materalized.and
seeking some friend or relative, quiet
ly stroked then heads or faces. Only
one full form appeared at this meet
ing, that of a beautiful girl, whose
brother was a member of the circle.
Each one in the circle held a slate in
his or her lap during the sitting and
several hands materialized and wrote
messages to tluir loved ones in plain
sight of all. These seances are won
derful and a great many of our people
attend them and come away well sat
isfied. Tho next circle will be held
tomorrow evening at S o'clock at the
same place and a large attendance is
A Narrow Escape.
Some unknown parties, without tho

train last night near Hillsboro.
Tho train was a littlo behind timo
and was running rapidly to mako up
timo when tho engineer saw an ob
struction on the track, but not till ho

to stop. It proved to bo a cross-tie,
which had been placed across tho
track with the ovidont purposo of
throwing tho ongino off tho track, but
fortunately it was a large ono and tho
pilot being low it was thrown clear
of tho track. NoJJdamage was doncj,
but the engineer reports that ho
shuddorcd, tor tho timo being, at tho
danger which appeared to him immi
nent and yet only averted by tho for
tunate construction of his engine.
