ALLEN ACADEMY FIELD DAY
Tomorrow is the annual field day
for the Academy and no little interest
is being manifested by the boys in the
various events of the day.
The school has been divided into
four classes according to age and
ability, and every boy in school has an
opportunity to show his powers in
track and field events.
The prizes will be ribbons suitably
inscribed: blue for first place; red, for
second; and white for third. In ad
dition to t'ne ribbons that will be
given far each event, there is offered
antiualy a handsome gold medal far
the best all-round athlete in school.
The winner of this coveted trophy is
decided by the result of events for the
first class or older boys.

, promisses to be the closest and most
exciting one in the history of the
school. About seven boys are ex
pected to qualify and it is exceedingly
difficult at present to pick the winner.
Last year, the custom of having a
queen for field day was inaugurated,
and Miss H&ttie Ixni Hudson was
chosen as first of the royal line. This
year Miss Pauline Webb will wield
the sceptre and award the victors.
The Academy boys wish to thank
the business men of Bryan who con
tributed so liberally to the field day-
fund, and will make further acknowl
edgement of their appreciation.
The exercises of the day begin at
eight-thirty tomorrow morning and
will continue through the day. The
most interesting events, however, have
been scheduled for the afternoon to
give the people of Hrvan an oppor
tunity to witness them.
No admission fee will be charged
and a mwt cordial invitation is ex
tended to all.
