The various ladies societies of the
town held a union social meeting at the
Baptist Church Monday afternoon
January 28th
The church was beautifully decorated
with cut flowers and ferns A good
sized and appreciative audience was
well entertained by the following well
rendered program

The devotional exercises were led by
Rev A A Wagnon
Mrs Hnghes representing the ladies
of the Cumberland Presbyterian
Church gave an interesting account of
their work which was followed by a
well rendered solo by Mrs McDonald
Then Mrs Woodson followed with a
well prepared succinct statement of the
work of the Womans Home Mission
Society of the M E Church South
and Mrs Taylor gave a clear and beau
tiful statement of the work of the W C
T TJ Mrs Spellings spoke as the rep
resentative of the M E Church Fol
lowing which a beautiful solo was sung
by Mrs Torrans Mrs Lewis repre
senting the Ladies Aid Society of the
Baptist Chnrch read a well prepared
paper on Womans Work and Miss
Preston gave a splendid statement
of the work of the ladies of the Presby
terian Church
Prayer of dismissal by Eev Mr
Hives pastor of the Presbyterian

The occasion was thoroughly enjoyed

tiful figures The soene was a
glittering animated picture the
glimmer of sweet and beautiful
maidens in their lovely gowns and
tbe smiling faces of happy and
gallant young men formed a throng
of beauty and chivalry made up
from the flowers of the social
sphere of Jefferson and other cities
Sad were the faceB of all when
the soft strains of Home Sweet
Home wafted forth its sweet
ness on the wee hours of the morn
and all repaired to their respective
homes to dream of and live over
again the evening pleasure
