Sheriff Joe Thornton received
a check for 5000 from the Sai
railroad the latter part of las
week which was sent in recog
rtltion of his good work in arrest
ing and convicting Francisci
Sugiga the Mexican lad wh <
placed an iron obstruction on the
Sap track south of Beeville last
summer and which had it not
been accidently discovered
would have caused a serious
wreck Mr Thornton arrested
three Mexican boys and soon
fsstened tho deed on Suniga
who was convicted and sentenc
ed to a two yearslterm in tin
Gatesville reformatory at the
last session of the district court

there are still officers who are
on the watch o ut for such yoiihg
