For the Men
Herald Special
New York Dec 30 The positive
declaration of Mrs Augusta E Stet
son excommunicafed leader of Chris
tian Science that Mrs Mary Baker
Eddy will rise from the dead to
prove that there is life after death
is expected to seriously effect the cult
throughout the world Both sides of
the controversy here declined to make
public their plans today but each is
watching the other closely The real
battle is expected to take place In
Boston and in the immediate future
The statement of Mrs Stetson is the
sole topic of conversation among the
Scientists her today and has
amazed some disillusionized others
and has precipitated a bitter dispute
Eugene B Cox head of the pub
licity commission of the church here
issued a statement today in which he
says there was nothing in the teach
ing of Christian Science or in the
writings of Mrs Eddy to justify the
statement looking for physical resur
rection When asked if she were the
Christ Mrs Eady replied Even the
question shocks me what I am is for
God to declare in His infinite mercy
There was and is and ever can be
but one God one Jesus of Nazareth
Such an authoritative statement by
Mrs Eddy declares Mr Cox should
forever put at rest any wild and vis
ionary ideas regarding resurrection
