Rev, Charles E. Wright, pastor of
tho Second Baptist church of this
city, states that his loyear-old son,
who for the past six years lias been
sorely afflicted with epilepsy, having
I as many us a dozen , convulsions a
day,has entirely recovered his henlth,
has gained fifteen pounds in flesh ;
this wonderful cure was made by the
use of King's Royal Oermateur,
when physicians and other remedies
failed. Rev. Mr. Wright further
states that he gives the above infor
mation with Christian convections
and cheerfulness for the benefit of
suffering humanity. This reliable
family medicine cures rheumatism,
neuralgia, catarrh, dyspepsia ;
and kidney trouble are dispelled at
once by its use, and for the correction
of female irregularities it stands with-
out a peer.

'Yh&t has become of the Tory big and
old grandfather clocks? asked a report
er of a leading jewelor.
"Well, there are still many of thorn
lingering behind as relloa."
"Do you koop in stook any such clocks
nowadays?"
"No, but we sell some very largo
clocks, built, however, on a dlfforent
plan. The grandfather time-piece was
antique in its very make-up. Tall,
stately and almost reverential in appear
ance, the old clocks of our grand-parents
have given placo to the gonorally far
more attractive designs which now find
their place in the cheerful appearing
homes of our citizons. There's a very
pronounced tendency towards all sorts
liver Lf unique designs the odder the better.
"f eopio ton't iuo tne oia-umora, un
less It is as relics: and they are too
bothersome and exponsivo if it is de
sired to keep them in running order.
We have a number of customers who
still cling to their beloved old clocks,
but something is always wrong and re
pairs are continually necessary. We
have two or throo old-tlmere in the store
now for repairs, but the owners would
sell them quick if a would-be buyer
should turn up. They aro not so diffi
cult to get possession of as many think."
"New works can be put in thorn?"
"Certainly, but the charm of the old
rolics would then bo in a degree lost A
rolio is a relic, and any modernizing de
stroys Its value.
"Many styles of clocks are popular.
There's the onxy a low, solidly-built
clock, very favorably received but very
costly, some Belling for $40 and higher.
Marble clocks, those that are rather
small and worth S25, soil very roadily
among a certain class of people. Wooden
clocks don't sell so well. They former
ly were just the thing, but tiraos have
changed and people don't liko them as
a rule. A rather ordinary wooden clock
brings about 85, some selling for 810 or
815. Marblelzod iron timo pieces aro
quite popular. They aro a jet black,
and built on the same plan as the ordi
nary marble or onyx clock. They fre
quently sell for S45 or 50. Brass clocks
of unique design are also popular.
Hero's a new one in the form of a pad
lock and key, the lock part forming the
clock proper while the key part is made
into a neatly devised thermometer. All
sorts of figures, animals, towers and
houses of antique designs aro imitated
in the popular brass clocks of the day.
Lever clocks in all those designs aro
woll thought of. A lever clock is ono
that is constructed on the same princi
ple as a watch without a pondulum.
These clocks aro of all shapes, octagons,
heptagons in short, angular figures of
various shapes being principally made.
Then there are cottage clocks, the
Gothic, Tudos, Spartan and numerous
other designs, which take name from
some historical personage or country.
French clocks aro of poculiar design and
are generally made oi polished metal
this latter characteristic is their distin
guishing one. A great many of them
are sold. Here's something rather new;
this watch? It keeps time according to
tho 24-hour system that is, the faco of
the watch indicates 84 hours, instead of
13 as all ordinary ones do. We don't
sell time-pieces ot that description;
simply keep them as curiosities. Up in
Canada, however, such watches and
clocks aro usod quite a great deal. Many
railroads, I beliove, use such a system
of keeping time. Hero's a very popular
kind of clock. It has, one might say,
takon the place of the grandfather
clock. You see it is very tall. They are
called antique hall clocks and aro really
beautiful and striking pieces of furni
ture, some of them being 10 foot high.
They are made ot oak and mahogany
wood, finished with antiquo brass trim
mings, gold tippings and so on. The
