The sharp advances in the price of meat will have a tendency to induce many fanners to sell their cattle and hogs before they are really fit for market, thus losing a large portion of the advance whicji we believe might bo secured later in theseason on well- fatted beef and pork. The supply of meat is short and must continue ro for months to come. The April receipts at Chicago were 55,000 less than the receipts for the same month one year ago, and there is a, propor tionate shrinkages at other western points.
