Tho state board of equalization
has reduced the assessed aluatlon
of sheep and gonts in tcnt)-two
counties of the stnto a total of
$274,708 'the action, which was
taken July 19th without any public
announcement of It being given, was
"for tho purposo of equalizing tho as
sessment and valuation on sheep and
goats assessed with other classes of
property In tho state." According
to tho tablo tho sheep In tho stato
hao decreased n total of 284,314
head since Inst )car nnd tho pri
mary assessment tins decreased
$094,370. However, tho further re
duction In tho 1912 assessment
makes tho totnl decrease this year
amount to $909,138.

For at least tho Inst two )cars,
sheep hao been assessed on n gen
eral vnluatlon of two dollars n head.
In 1911 It wns a very smnll fraction
loss than $2.07. In 1912 It origin
ally n u very smnll fraction more

ment, tho assessment becomes n
fraction more thnn $1 71, or n re
duction practically of nineteen cents
n bond on all sheep In tho stato. Cat
tle, hogs nnd horses nro not reduced
by tho board. Neither is there any
reduction made In sheep In Carbon,
Davis, Sanpete, Tooelo nnd Vnno
counties In which tho initiations nro
placed at approximately two dollars
a head, with tho exception of Davis
county, whero It Is plnccd well over
three dollnrs n head.
