Braxton, wife and son of Boise and Mr. and Mrs. George Bates start ed to the Trinity Lakes last Wednes day on a fishing trip. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Russell W. Ireland, a boy, Aug- 18. Dewey Parrish received a message from his father recently stating that he was very ill. Dewey left at once to be in attendance on his father. The Rev. Virgil Snow held serv ices in the ihall last week. Ova Greer, Who lias been visiting with ifriends at Emmett, returned home Saturday. Mrs. Frank Farley of Mountain Home visited a few days on the Prairie. T. H. Chesnut and Howard Elkins made a business trip to Mountain Home Monday. ❖ * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BRUNEAU * * * * * * * * * * * * #.* * * * * * * (From the Owyhee Nugget) A syndicate of Idaho people have leased some 3,600 acres of land in the Castle Creek district, which is confidently declared to be oil'land. Frank Trammell has all but signed a contract with the syndicate to drill on this land, which will perhaps be located on Birch creek, a tributary of Castle Creek, not far from the little town of that name. Right now the only hitch to signing of the con tract is complete understanding of 1 the syndicate and the government, now pending. Little Walter Tate is carrying his right hand in a sling, the result of getting in the path of a shell acci dentally discharged from his father's gun a week ago last Tuesday. Bill Poison and wife, Oscar Tate, wife and Walter wore en route to the Black camp on Battle creek, and be fore reaching their destination, the men got out to kill a few chickens. While reloading, his father's weapon was accidently discharged when Wal ter's hand was in line, and as many as eleven No. 7 shot struck the lit tle fellow, only two or three imbed ding themselves, the remainder caus ing only slight abrasions and pass ing on. An X-ray will perhaps be required to locate those remaining in order to remove them. The entire party returned to Bruneau Thursday on account of the occurrence. Tom Grayson, who ihas been here from Mountain Home for the past week or ten days re-papering and painting the interior of the Jack Harley town house, to be occupied by Professor Hays and family, fin ished the work on Tuesday and re turned to his home in the afternoon. The Hays family will move in this week. Fred Jackson of Mountain Home, a claim holder in the artesian water *>elt near Shoofly, has rented the Jack Turner house on Kidd street and plans to move his family over from their present home so as to be near them during the time he is en gaged in boring for artesian water, having already drilled a hole some 700 feet deep. Brady and Miss Brady, of Pocatello came in Saturday and Went on to Boise, where they visited for two days with Mrs. Bra dy's brother and family. They re turned to Mountain Home Tuesday and made a side trip to Featherville, where they admired the work of the big now gold dredge, returning the last of the week to Pocatello. They were all greatly interested in the big dredge which is now in operation on the Feather river. Lewis E. Montrose and David M. Burt were in before Land Commis sioner D. A. Utter Saturday making final proof on their homesteads. Mrs, Thomas Trathen and daugh ter returned Saturday last from their six weeks visit iwith the former's daughter, Mrs. J. R. Leeright, at Montpelier. They report that they had a delighftul time, and on the way home stopped at Rupert, where they visited for a week with Mrs. Trathen's son, William C. Trathen. E. N. Wolf, formerly an attorney In Mountain Home, but now resid ing in Twin Falls, /was in the city Sunday on his way to Spokane. Tom Trathen reports that the del- ^ egatlon from Mountain Home at tending the Democratic state con-1 vention at Hailey, consisting of himself and Messrs. Lee, Smith and Stevens, certainly enjoyed the hos pitality of that town. He says that the Halleyites could not do enough ifor their visitors. Farmers! Mr. Mc Farney was Injured in an auto acci dent recently, having a bone frac tured. .The patient was not getting along very ■well and an X-ray ex posure showed that the bone was not knitting. It was necessary to scrape the surfaces, and the fracture was again reduced. Ills many friends in this vicinity sincerely hope that he will soon be up and around. Edward Manion, son of our Judge Manion, and family of Blackfoot are visiting the Judge in Mountain Home.
