O. 4 E 7 COARSE WORK ALl EGED AT ELY. Kurokn Sentinel: About the ,i.l Me of lout month ot Ely, White Pine county, Nevadii, Louis Janin, Jr., I 'f wwll-known tu ning expert, invited A. D. Cmnpton, the book 1,, , n v cf the Chairman Minion Co. tu his room. After looking the door it in nlk-ged. he accused Campton of tiiiiiix'ring with his mail matter, and then gave him euch a beating the the bookkeeper wag confined to his room for a week Mr Junin had been employed by wiiuk of the principals ahureholiU-rs nf the Cbainruan Company in the eunl to visit Ely and ascertain, by th irough tents, the Tallies oon t lined iu the ores in the mines of tl company and also to report whether the mill then being con structed would auooossfully treat the ores. In fact, Mr. Janin was em ployed to make an exhaustive report on the entire property of the Chain -man Company. Louis Janin, Jr., bears the reputa tion of being an honorable and throughly competent mining expert. It is stated that he was receiving a alary of $2,500 a month for his ser vices while in the employ of t .e Chaiuman Company. He had been at work in Ely for about two months rVen & reported trouble between Camptou and himself occurred. The story of the difficulty, and the causes that lead up to it, have been quite freely talked over both in Eureka and Hamilton during the past week.and the remarks made re garding the management of the company's affairs during the past year are said not to have been very flattering. As near as the Sentinel has been able to learn, the causes leading up to the present trouble were bought about by some one tampering with Mr. Janin's mail at Ely. It is said that soon after he began forwarding his reports to the Eastern share holders Janin was unable to receive prompt replies to his letters. Later, it is reported he received advices from the East to the effect that he must have been mistaken in his statement of facts made in his report as Mr. Campton, the company's bookkeeper, had written them (the shareholders) that his (Janin's) re ports were untruthful and mislead ing as to the existing conditions of the company's affairs at Ely. It is further alleged that Mr. Janin abid ed his time until he had secured satisfactorly evidence of the inter ference of Mr. Campton in his bus iness matters before he proceeded to rem! t he riot act to him . As the story goes he invited Camp ton to call at his rooms in Ely. When the bookkeeper was safely in side the room Janin locked the door and immediately acoussed Campton of meddliuff with his affairs and ,. showed bim his evidence. Mr. Camp' ton, it is said, denied all the allega tions adduced by Janin, but the mining expert believed his proofs against the bookkeeper so conclusive that he considered his denial only an additional falsehood. Before Janin began his pugilistio work on Campton, it ia stated.he in formed that gentlemen that he (Janin) had no other stock in trade than his reputation as a thoroughly honorable and competent mining ex pert; that he intended upholding that reputation at all hazards; that when such people as the Rothohilda employed him and accepted bis re ports on mining properties he did not believe Campton'a statements of his unreliability would count for much. After concluding this prelude, it is reported that the fur began to fly immediately, Janin ia a powerfully built man and an athlete, and nearly killed Campton before he finished with him. After the set-to it was found that one of Campion's cheeks was laid open, and service of a physi ian were neooeasary to close the wound no lesa than five stitches being required to sew it up. Janin came out of the melee with only badly skinned nose. The six-ounce bottle of Trib at 60o is the popular size of the best lini ment. No remedr is more often needed. . "We caught a burglar in our room last night," writes a North Idaho edi lor, "auti we m uow iu gXMiaeaaion of ft and a new hat. 'All things eoue to him who wait.' " There ia said to be 1300,000 worth of ore in sight in the Wedekind mine, with oulya tginning. of de velopment work. For burns and bruises Trib is chief; From verv sprain it takes the pain To muscles sore it brings relief; And ror the "boas" it is the boas. The postal authorities at Washing ton, reoognizing the liabilities of postmasters to make mistakes in get ting letters in wrong boxes, have fixed a penalty of $200 on persons taking mail out of the office other loan their own and not returning it. The law is to have people look at their mail before taking it out of the the office and if they ahould hava mail other than their own they must return it at onoe. It also in cludes ' newspapers. The exouse that itia the postmaster's fault "outs no ice." If you have been getting other people's mail you had better take warning or you may get your self in trouble. A Carton Lady's Request. Mrs. Ann Riokey, a highly re spected lady of Carson, has written the following which explains itself : To the Trib Company: Gentlemen I aprained my foot and ankle very severely, turning the foot clear over, I triod a number of applications which usually relieve sprains but without effect. At the end of three days the swelling was greater than ever the pain interable, and I could not walk. The whole foot was double its natural size and black in color. I then tried Trib. In a few daya I was entirely well, and to-day that ankle ia better and stronger than the other. The Trib seems to have renewed the life ot the whole limb. Use my name in recommending Trib. Keep on ad vertising until all the world haa knowledge of the great value, the great blessing of this new remedy. ANN RICKEY. Mrs. Rickey's testimony is con firmed by that of a hundred others in -and about this city. Carson News. Tha Rev Irl.
