CURE FOR GLAXDERS. I liavo latoly discovered s remedy to 'euro (lie glanders in n liUrso: 1 lliought it might be useful tn others, and accord ingly I Bond you the information. Some lime in May last u man drove up and fastened his horses by mine, and cainu into the store ; afterwards we both went out, and I saw that one of his horses was sick. He Eaid bis hnrse had the glanders, and that lie thought it would have died last night it was so sick.? I was offended because lie had tied his nurse so near mine with a cotungeous disease, and said no more to him. Some days after this, the matter being some what forgotten, I was passing noar my hnrse; huappoarcd to be sick ; I turn ed and went up to him, and, sure enough he was sick I His throat was swollen to a terrible degree, so that he could hardly raise or lower his head more than an inch or two. Something must be done, for I could not port with him anyway at present. I tried one thing ?ntid another, but all to no purpose.? Now for a study. What will do the thing! Glanders: what are the glan ders 1 Why, it is diseased gland; tlie little vessels that bring (ho saliva to the mouth and tho throat are diseased? Mopped up, and must bo opened. What will do it ? Tobacco will vomit, and may open them. J took a half pound of fiinu cut tobacco and poured two quarts of warm water on it and let it soak a few minutes, and washed his throat and so on up to his ears, and his throat to his legs and between bis fore legs. It made him direful sick, and would have vomited him if it hud been possible for a horse to vomit. In throe hours.I, bathed him again, and the next morning again. The final effects was, my horse could put his head to the ground after the second time bathing, und afior tho third time ho could feed as well as ever, and has dono belter ever ttiuce. Wai. McSnrr.iitn, North Sheffield, Ashtabula co., 0. Dump Stables. When I first came to the firm which 1 ' now hold by purchase, I found the stable built under large trees and near a spring of water, with a northern aspect. My horfes were soon in poor condition, with long and rough coals, almost always lax in Iheir bow els nor cn.j|4I get them up by extra food or lighter wWk; but my cows suffered the most, for they were always sick. Their rnilk fell off and their butter was poor, and o/ a bad color and taste, and four of them slipped their calves before their time.? When the spring came they lefl their win ter quarters in a worse state then I had ev er seen them, and two of them died of tcours on going to pasture. On inquiry, I l'jund Ihalgjlhe tenant who had left had ulways beeffrWhat the neighbors termed unfortunate in his horses and cattle, and from that cause, more than any other, he had not been able to make both ends meet, j The truth flashed upon me in an instant, and in a very little longer time than it has taken me to tell my story, I commenced L pulling down the stable, the unhealthiness 8 of which had been, 1 was convinced, the came of all evil and all the lois; and it was no more than two days before there was not lefl one stone upon another of the whole fabrick. I now set to work and e rected another on higher ground, removed from water, and clear from the shade of trees, with a south-east aspect, and dry ca pacious yard; and from that day I have ' had neither sickness nor sorrow in my out door house-hold. My horses live on less foitd, are always sleek and in good condi tion, and my cows ate a credit to Iheir keep. Our butter brings two cents a . pojind more in the market, and for the last year our sales are more than double from the same number of cows and the same pasturage, and no more premature calves. Instead of watering my cattle as hereto ore at the spring under the trees?the wa ? ter cold, with a deadly taste and bad color , ?I sunk a well and put in a pump; and a -Jong trough in (he.yard for summer, and a nothei under shelter for winter, my cattle V-alike their thirst without setting up their coats, as they used to do at the hole under the Irees. Even when the weather was warm, thoy were accustomed to shake all aver as if they were in a fit of ague after drinking their fill ofthis water; and to this with the biJwjiect of the stables, I attri bute' all the sickness and misery which 1 have experienced among my cattle and horses.?
