CONSUMPTIONSCCCESSFULL Y TREA TED BY INHALATION OF MEDICATED VAPORS. BY JOHXSON STEWART ROSE, M. P., IWote of tAe Skefal College of J\\y*icUw*, and for yean Senior Physician in tAe London Royal Indrtnary for of tit e Lung*. Fi ibis age of progress, medical science h? contributed I her fall share to the general welfare. and that which j sliinrs resplendent, the bristliest jewel Ju her diadem, is her l*?t and pciTe't eif?. | MEDICATED VAPOR INHALATION, hi the lri*a.tmenl of C.>csunij?tioa and kindred affections.? The most ah.?urd notions, narrow-minded prejudice*, con temptible ignorance, and nnWushlr z quackery, hire lone ex- , isted In the treatment of Consumption. Men of skill and re-1 putat'en as physicians, hare prescribed nau=<-oos com pounds to be taken into the stomach, to care disease* of the longs, while the brazen-faced quack held op his nostrum a ?the only star of hope for the consumptive? It only enough of It were scalloweJ. The stomach, where no disease exists, being the receptacle of all this, is soon rendered unfit to perform Its functions, and the health thus materially Injured. All must see the absurdity, the positive injury of such a course; the disease is in the lun.es, not In the stomach; then why, in the name of common sense. do you not apply mcdicine directly to the lungs? The advant&re of Inhalation in Consumption and Throw? Disease* |s, tliat medicines in the form of Vapor are applied directly to the lunz?, where the disease exUts; the stomach Is thus left perfectly free to aid in restoring health, by administering to it healthy, life-giving food.? There Is no case so hopeless that Inhalation will not reach. The means, too, are -brought within the reach of all, the manner of administering the Vapors bving so simple, tint the InTalld is ncrer required to leave home, where the hand of friendship and affect<oo tends so much to aid the phy si cian's effort. The Inhaling method Is soothing, safe, and speedy, and consists in the administration of medicine* in such a man ner that they are conxeyed into the lung* in the form of va por, and produce their action at the seat of the disease. Its practical success is destined to revolutionize the opinions of the xnoiic.il world, and establish the entire curability of Con sumption. I appeal to the common sense of all affi^cted with lung dis ease 1, to embrace at once the advantages of Inhalation, and no longer apply moltcine to the unoffending stomach. I claim for Iuhii-it .cn a place amongst the precious gifts that nature and art hat-i given us, that "our day* may be long in the land." and a* the onlr AUK OF BErUUK FOR TIIE CONSUMPTIVE. A method not ouly rational, but simple, safe and c?2ca e!ou?. To many of my professional brethren throughout the Union, I tender my acknowledgements for their frank and manly course in testifying to the merits of Inhalation. I shall l?e pleased to co-operate with them in oTering to the afflictcd the blrsdngx of Medicated Vapor Inhalation in the treatment of Consumption. One word for my self. In answer to those claiming to have introduced the practice and to the tribe cf imitator*, who, ?sitb brazen Impudence, claim it ;?< thr-5r own. I both wrote in favor of Inhalation and practised it 1C years! The appa ratus then used, with the roe* I leal agents employed, achieved only a partial success; I therefore did not claim for it then i the miraculous powers which a long practice has since ena bled me to give it. Proof of this may be found in my work published in 1S1??. Applicants will please to state If they have ergr bled ! from the Lungs, if they have lost any llesh, have a cough, I night sweats and fever turns, what and how n>uch they cx j peCtorate, what the condition of their "touiachs and bowels.. RECOMMENDATIONS BY PHYSICIANS. ( We, the undersigned practitioners in medicine, cheerfuHy ' and heartily recommend Dr. Rose's method of treatirc dis j eases of the Lungs and Throat, as the best and most effertu j al ever introduced into medical practice. Our conviction* are based uj>on having several of onr own patient*, cotifirm | rd consumptives, restored to vigorous health after a few j months'treatment by Dr. Rose. In the above named dis j vases, the application of 3Iedicated Vapors, inhaled direct i !y into the Lungs, may be justly considered a great boon to j -offering humauity, rendering Consumption a perfectly cura ble disease.
