BV JOHNSON STETTART ROSE, M. D-. Folioif of the Rival CotteQ* of Phymician*. and for year* Senior J'huxiciani* tht London Royal Infirmary ' for Diseases qf tJit Lhhqs. TN this age of progress, medical science has contributed X her fall share to the general w?lf?reT ai?d that which ihlnts resplendent, the brighten Jewel iu her diadem, is her last and grntt st cift, ML'DICATED vapor inhalation. In the treatment of Consumption and kindred affection*.? The most absurd notion?, narrow-minded prejudice*, con temptible ignorance, and unblushing quackery, have lone ex isted in the treatment of Consumption. Men of skill and re putation 09 phy*!c!am, have prescribed nauseous compounds to b~ taken into the stomach, to cure diseases Of the lung*, while the brazen-faced quack held up his nostrum as the only star of hope for the consumptive?if otdy enough of it were swallowed. The stomach, where no disease exists, being the receptacle of ail this, is soon rendered unfit to perform its function?, and the health thus materially injured. All must see the at??untity, the positive injury of audi a course; the disease is in the lungs, not in the stomach; then why, iu th<; name of cotntr.oi sense, do you nut apply medicine directly to the lungs* Tne advantage of Inhalation in Consumption and Throat Diseas j is, that medicines in the form of \apor are apidied directly to the luncs, where the disease exists; the stomach is thus left perfectly free to aid in restoring health, by administering to it healthy, life'firing food.? There is no ease so hopeless that Inhalation will not reach. The means, too, are brought within the reach of all, the manner of administering the Vapors being: so simple, that the Invalid is never required to leave home, whera the hand of friendship and affection tends so much to aid the physi cian** effort. The Inhaling method is soothing, safe, and speedy, and consist* in the administration of medicines in such a man ner that they are conveyed into the lungs in the form of va por, and produce their action at the seat of the disease, it* practical success is destined to revolutionise the opinions of the medical world, and establish the entire curability of Con sumption. I appeal to the common sense of all afSictcd with lung dis eases, to embracc at once the advantages of Inhalation, ant! no longer apply medicine to the unoffending ttomach. I claim for luhalatlaa a place amongst the precious gifts that nature and art hath given us, that"our days may be long in the land,** ami as the only ARK OF REFUGE FOR TIIB CONSUMPTIVE. A method not only rational, but simple, safe and effica cious. To many of my professional brethren throughout the Union, I tender my acknowledgements for their frank and manly course In testifying to the meritsoflnlialatlon. I shall be pleased to co-operate with them in offering to the afflicted the blessings of Medicated Vapor Iuhalatioxi in the treatment of Consumption. One word fur rayeelf; in answer to those claiming to have Introduced the practice and to the tribe of imitators, who, with brazen impudence, claim It a* their own. 1 both wrote In favor of Inhalation and practised it 10 >ears! The appa ratus then used, with the medical agents employed, achieved only a partial success; I therefore did not clahu for it then the miraculous powers which a long practice has since ena bled me to give it. Proof of this may be found in my work published in 1540. Applicants will please to state If they have ever bled from the Lungs, if they have lost any llesh, have a cough, night sweat* and fever turns, what and how much they ex pectorate, what the condition of their stomachs end bowels. Thu necessary medicines, apparatus, Ac., Kill be forwarded to any part. Te*ks??5 consultation fee. Balance or fee payable when patients report themselves convalescent. RECOMMENDATIONS BY PHYSICIANS. We, the undersigned practitioners in ineJtcine, cheerfully and heartily recommend Dr. Rose's method of treating dis eases of (he Luug.-t and Throat, us the K-st and tuo.st effectu al ever Introduced into medical practice. Oar convictions j are based upon having several of our own patients, confirm ' ed consumptives, restored to vigorous health after a few month*' treatment by Dr. Ro-e. In ths above luiuuI dis eases, the application of Medicated Vapors, inhaled direct ly Into the Lungs, iniy be Justly considered a great boon to suffering humanity, rendering Consumption a perfectly cura blc dls* Ate.
