given two ballots. One will con
tain the proposition to revise the
state constitution and the other
will contain three propositions.
No. 1. Giving the women of the
state the right to hold office. No
2. An amendment to the con
stitution providing that the in
terest of the sixty million dol-
lar authorized road bond issue
may be paid from motor vehicle
license fees. No. 51. Authorizes
the Legislature to incur and
provide by taxation for the pay-
ment of indebtedness not ex-
cecding tiftcen million dollars
for bonuses to soldiers and

The State Senate passed the
House road bill with amend
ments Tuesday by a vote of 27
to .". The bill will go back to the
House for concurrence and it is
expected that the House will
not concur in a number of im
portant amon.lmonts, which will
throw the measure in joint, con t
ference. The difference between
the House bill as passed and as
amended by the Senate is:
As passed the bill guaranteed
each county !?0(X)() a mile on its
state roads. As amene'ed is
guaranteed a minimum of
2(X),()00.
As passed the bill detined a
hard-surfaced load as a road
surfaced with clay-bound gravel,
macadam or ochor suitable ma
terial. As amended a hard-surfaced
road is delined as one sur
faced with concrete, comparable
types, macadam, gravel or the
equivalent of gravel, or other
suitable material.
As passed by the House the
bill provides for a state system
of about 7,()0() miles, ,tho routes
being given a town-to town de
signation. As amended town-to-town
designation was stricken
out' and a system of approxi
mately (5,000 miles substituted.
The slate system designated un
der the Morgau-McCnllongh
law is approved, the commission
being empowered to make neces
sary changes.
As passed the bill gave the
engineer a salary of $"t,()00. As
amended the engineer is given
$7,:00
As passed the bill 1 gave four
commissioners !?,-l(K)a year. As
amended $10 a day for time ac
tually employed was allowed.
